It's all good! You never know what you're gonna find on ebay. We picked up about 500 dozen (pv1) on pallets for about $10/dz once.

Yeeeeee haaaaaaaaaw! lol

"If it's not shameless it's not self promotion." I'm just waiting for this thread to turn into a dick swinging competition of handicaps, 3/4 of which are total BS.

I suck at golf if it's any consolation. I know it's a prerequisite in the Lesbian Handbook, but I'm on the DL.

I suck at it too, but I have VERY little green time, we're talking 50ish holes total and less than 5 hours at the driving range, so I am a complete novice. I don't even know what my handicap is, but I still love the game. I just moved to Florida last year, so I plan on getting some new clubs and getting back into it. I don't understand the guys that get so frustrated at it. I mean, yeah it has it's moments, but I love it so much I don't let them bother me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 'starter' brand? I want something decent that I can grow with without spending a fortune.

I don't really know if there is anything such as a "starter" brand. I'd recommend going into a golf store and hitting as many clubs/brands as you want. I would recommend staying away from blades if you aren't that good because it will only make things more difficult.

I'd also look for "Improvement Irons", these tend to be a lot easier to hit. Most of the brands have a version of these.

If you go to a golf website, such as TGW, they sell starter sets with golf bags for like $350

Thanks! I was mainly wondering what the best 'bang for your buck' brand would be essentially.

I'll google improvement irons and read up on those.

Nike slingshots or ping...Z8s? Something like that. Either will make a tremendous difference in a beginners game.

On average? REALLY???

I dunno but IMO, anyone who is losing 5 balls per round is a serious hacker and should really spend their time and money on the range and not on the course. Most likely they are scoring too high to even hold a legit handicap and are a major reason why a weekend round can never be played in under 5 hours...

Meh. Depends where you are playing. Difficult courses with a lot of water or high thick dune grass (Ocean Course in Kiawah for example) can swallow golf balls alive. But your average wide open public course you are probably right. But thats a fairly generalized statement.

Hell, I'm a scratch player and lose 2-3 balls per round. Granted my home track is rated 77.7 from the tips

I'm actually going to a golf academy at the end of June, made the Golf Digest top 25 academies in the nation. I'll need all the help!

Have one of your buddies that can play show you a few things at a driving range.

Or just go out and play the cheaper public courses until you get better.

Sometimes you can find specials on lessons.

My ideology behind golf is, Spend Spend Spend!

Few items picked up last week, all things I "needed".

As far as the range finder is concerned, I hunt too, multi-purpose! Had to revive the thread, I know more of you play!
