I think the point of the troll physics is that it's so obviously impossible that if anyone were to even point out or consider the feasibility of such device, they would be trolled, and the cartoon would then have accomplished the task it sets out to do.

Unless You're trolling! Then I've been trolled by you!

Holy crap. I'm in a public library's quiet study room with 20 other people. I just looked at some of the updates and I started to snort and wheez from holding my breath trying not to laugh. I'm now all red with tears in my eyes and everyone is looking at me funny.

I do
but let's say you shoot a bullet into an MRI scan for example, and your enemy is on the other side.. will the bullet make it through for example?
MRIs use very powerful magnets...

and the other one.. take the same powerful magnet and put it infront of a small metal car, wont it keep moving towards the magnet?, and if this magnet is on wheels and attached to itself, why wouldn't it go forward?
I mean in a way it is right...

No, because you're not taking into account that not only is the car attracted to the magnet, but the magnet is also attracted to the car. These factors cancel each other out, meaning that the car wouldn't move. If the beam holding the magnet is strong enough, both the magnet and the car will just sit there. If the beam is too weak, the beam will break or bend and the magnet and car will affix themselves to each other. In order for the car to move, the magnet would have to be moved by an external force (not the car or the magnet). This force would have to be calibrated precisely so as to maintain the balance of magnetic tension between the car and the magnet.

There is no such thing as a perpetual motion machine.

I doubt the MRI scan has enough magnetism to overcome the speed of the bullet. You'd need a seriously powerful magnet (maybe something like the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory has).

As far as the car, it's impossible. Yes if you hold a powerful enough magnet stationary in front of a car I assume it would pull the car towards it. But think of if you hold two magnets in your hands a little bit apart. Your arms don't go wildly swinging out of control because the magnets are now creating propulsion. Adding wheels won't do anything because the magnet in the front would have to have some form of creating forward momentum on its own, which it cant.

yeah good point
I figured it would move maybe a slight bit.
obviously not to the point in the drawing.. but it might roll just a little bit (like less than a meter)
the initial pull might trigger a slight force.

Pictorially, where C is car and M is magnet:

C---><---M = |

For a magnet to have an effect on metal, it needs to be a ferrous metal. Lead (and copper if its a jacketed round) are NON-ferrous and therefore not magnetic. So, your MRI machine might cause the bullet to miss if the shooter is close enough for the gun to be pulled off target, but if not, your ass just got shot through a magnetic forcefield.

I feel like the magnet 'myth' was proven to hold some slight truth by myth busters... (or maybe it was busted, I honestly forget anymore)
