Washing Jeans

They'll last years. Buy a new pair when you don't like them anymore. They're blue jeans, not a silk blouse.

All whites (and underwear and blue jeans) together in hot, all else cold. Red clothes separate.

With my better jeans I only wash in cold water, making sure to turn the jeans inside out to maintain the color. I wash as infrequently as possible as well. No bleach of course, no fabric softener and mixing any cleaner in with the water beforehand. Also hang dry only.

My beater jeans I don't care about and just wash them regular.

In college I'd go weeks without washing my jeans. I had my ones for class and the smoky ones for the bars. Most of my jeans lasted me 2+ years. The most recent pair was on it's 4th year, a hole in the knee started to form and I wasn't careful and ripped it too big. It was my favorite pair too. Damn.

I can't imagine wearing something that hasn't been washed in a month??? I just wash them each time I wear them, inside out on a light cycle. Air dry.

some people say it's only a pair of jeans and no big deal, but a good looking pair of jeans can somewhat make you look different. others say they don't do the first wash but ain't that kinda bad due to the chemicals on it. cause i remember when i bought a pair of Diesels a while ago and wore before the wash, my t-shirt i was wearing was white and at the end of the day you could have a little show of the blue coloring (this also apply to white shoes)

Ok, I didn't read the whole thread. be aware..

But you guys who are like "screw it, just WASH EM, then buy new ones!"...

Do you realize just how much some jeans cost? like Diesel's.... they can cost anywhere from $200 to like $700. For a pair of damn jeans.

If I bought those.. (A) they better give good head. (b) You can be DAMN sure I'm gonna keep em looking as good or better than the day I bought 'em.

Good point; I buy cheap jeans.

If I'm going someplace nice, I wear dress slacks or wash & wear khakis; Different age bracket explains. For me, jeans are for working in the yard.

I've been thinking about a new, nice pair though, because I'm feeling old. I've never bought a 'nice' pair of jeans. My father favors Lucky and Diesel, but I haven't given it much thought. Any suggestions on a brand, besides Diesel? What are the different types of jeans? In my experience, it's always been straight leg vs. relaxed fit vs. boot cut - always the relaxed (muscular thighs).

Once you buy your first pair of premium denim, it's like an addiction. Nothing else is good enough... it's premium or nothing.

I agree on the age bracket comment... different age = different mentality.

Some individuals equate jeans with casual clothing, yard work, etc. They tend to think you'd never wear jeans in a professional environment, or out someplace nice.
I on the other hand think that so long as you're well dressed, what does it matter if you have jeans on. Yes, there is a time and place for everything, and I know when it's time to rock a suit; but a nice pair of jeans can look a lot better then an ill-fitting pair of cheap dress pants.

Neurorad - For a good first pair of "nice jeans", it depends equally on what you want to spend, as well as what your body type is. There are some jeans that just won't work on a tall skinny guy, but look great on others; and vice-versa. There's no need to break the bank. If there's a Diesel, Saks or Nordstrom outlet near you, head there. I've picked up $250 jeans for under $70.
I personally like Diesel, Ernest Cut & Sewn, Nudie, Levi Capital E, Acne, APC, Energie.

The logic is simple though, washing jeans removes ink and makes them fade, regardless of how cheap or expensive your jeans are. If you don't want your jeans to fade you have to change how you wash them, if you don't care then just throw them in the wash and dry them like a pair of underwear or a towel. Jeans are preshrunk (except for the expensive raw jeans) so shrinkage should be minimal.

it may depend on what you are looking for, i personally like diesel for the 'kind of' semi formal denims they produce otherwise brands such as True Religion are too expensive, only have one pair of those compared to my 4 pairs of Diesels.

hey i have 4 pairs of diesel jeans too, bought one for a girl (friend)
it looks amazing on her especially how it hugs her um .. figure

If you would like to buy quality jeans dont go for true religion or 7's IMO because so many people wear them and you'd just seem like another in the crowd of this growing market. Go for diesel, dior homme(if you're really into it), versace jeans, citizen, lucky, or boss

Diesel is the only brand i know that produces sizes (waist) 26 & 27 for you thinner persons...

oh and if you don't wan't to wash you can always have the manufacturer do it if they are specialty jeans.
