If I had the money to buy a new GT I would. Looks like a bad ass toy. Header, exhaust, intake, and tune and you have one beast of a car.

Here in Chicago, I was able to accomplish MSRP on a couple of different dealerships for the BOSS. However, that was pretty early on, before the first one hit the ground in the Chicagoland area. Since then, I think the smaller dealerships have caught on to its popularity and are now auctioning their one lottery allocation to bigger dealerships for $2-3k over at least. Early in the game, there were some dealers in BFE I talked to who had only one guy who knew anything about the BOSS (their designated Mustang specialist) and seemed to not know how big of a deal it was, so there was the chance to get them at MSRP out there too.
The LS version, forget about it. A lot of dealerships are asking $80k+ If you can wait, go ahead and establish rapport with a bigger Mustang mover in the area and get a deposit down ASAP on the 2013 BOSS, which will come in some different colors and with the '70 hockey stick stripe. Or you can hope that the 2012s will have satiated the initial craze and the 2013s will hit lots with less of a circus atmosphere. And who knows.... With the paranoia surrounding gas prices and the fact that the BOSS is being touted as a Mustang that is built to go around corners, the demand may dry up at some time, leaving cars on the lots toward the end of the year. I don't expect that to be the case, but it's a possibility. Then again, a 5.0 is still a great car and plus you can spec for creature comforts too. If you go the 5.0 route, you can look into the vast array of FRPP's selection available to be installed and carry factory warranty lengths. Another thing to consider is that, although the GT's resale won't be as high as the BOSS, it's still projected to be pretty damn good. Most people would be surprised at the numbers, especially people here who think they're 3er beats the 5.0 in that category. Last time I looked, I think it was on par with the M3 and a measurable amount ahead of the 3er. |

Most rational people on this forum at least respect the new Mustang and the 5.0 as a hell of a value. It's probably the best value of any performance car right now (not including used cars with low milage). I say DO IT! The only downside of the car is that it's so common (which also means cheaper aftermarket parts), but if you don't mind that then you should definitely go for it.
If I could have a Boss and a Raptor I would be extremely happy and I grew up as a GM guy and a Ford detractor. |

Forget the boss, get a Grabber Blue GT with goodies and call it a day. Those Ford bastards will jack up the price of Bosses just like they did with the GT500's it's not worth it.

...and anyone who absolutely couldn't find a '12 BOSS at MSRP wasn't trying hard enough (LS editions excluded; you deserve a medal if you get one of those at MSRP). With the 2013 models, it will be the same story. Get lined up early and you'll have no issues... However, I've also been toying with the idea of loading up a GT Premium and a few FRPP goodies. Honestly it's because of FRPP that I see the only advantages of the BOSS to be its exclusivity factor as far as resale goes and the cream-in-my-pants Track Key, while it lags behind in creature comforts (rightly so). It's just nice that there are two options there that you can't go wrong with.... as long as they fix the Getrag problems. |
