Well even though the Z06 is definitely built more like a track car which you said you won't do, the difference is definitely noticeable in everyday driving. The base C6 is certainly quick but the Z06 is much quicker and handles better as well, it is the lightest corvette available (150 lbs lighter than a regular C6 due to the aluminum frame), the newer Z06 also has much better brakes that are shared with the ZR1. In essence, the C6 was definitely a quick car when I drove it but the Z06 was unlike anything I have ever driven before and I've been in some pretty quick cars. It depends on your definition of speed, drive both back to back and you will see it too.

The c6 zo6 is a monster! It really takes A LOT of discipline to drive one. Be gentle with the throttle or it will bite back... And when I say bite back, it bites hard.

I drove my Z06 as a DD for 30k miles. For it's capabilities it is a remarkably easy car to live with. The suspension is also fairly compliant for it's handling prowess. The car can be a little loud with regards to road noise on the hwy, but again otherwise it is fairly quiet until you stand on it and the exhaust valves open at 4k rpm. I loved daily driving it, but felt bad having to occasionally leave it in a sweltering parking lot all day, etc. I actually just grabbed a 6 speed manual 03 Acura CL Type S. I'm not wild about the body, but the drivetrain is Honda precision. The power for a dd is nice as is the fuel economy bump. I'm seeing right around 25 mpg on my city commute without being nice to it which is about a 25% bump in mileage and I don't feel bad about the Z's paint
