I don't think someone crashing into your door really should be one of the reasons?

Dealers are pretty much the same, If you dont like one you could just go a few miles and like the next one like everyone else eventually does.

The insurance thing is pretty weird considering the massive difference in the capability of both cars but non M BMW's are always pretty good with it, I guess. About HPFP problems, some have it and some don't, mine has had one precautionary change in nearly 40k miles.

Whatever, I say you will regret it OP. Just spend the extra $100 a month (if leasing again) and get what you know you want.
Well I was fed up with dealership, appointement to replace HPFF and injector problems had to flat bed the car otherwise come back in 3 weeks and yes I felt jinxed once the idiot hit me. Also I always wanted a GTI and I had a deal where I could unload the 135 without taking a hit(My friend worked for the vw dealer) for being in an accident so I did. As far as the engine goes well I admit like every other turbo engine out there it is boring(way too linear for me and dies up top and they all sound like vaccum cleaners). I owned a k20a2 acura almost a decade ago while it was fun more then the GTI I would not want to own a civic SI for a DD.

BTW good luck OP. My opinion Jetta-Golf TDI. At least you wont have remorse or regret since it's kinda unique and resale value is unreal.Good luck with your decision!

Thanks mtla4!

I really need to test drive a TDI VW. The gas mileage sounds great, but the lack of HP and 0-60 times being ~9.1 seconds kinda scares me coming from the Ultimate Driving Machine. At least the GTI and GLI can hold their own.

VW leases are pretty expensive. I know a loaded 4-door GTI was leasing for close to $500 a month about 3 months ago with $0 down.

It's a totally different mindset while you're driving a TDI you're trying to achieve the best MPG(Trying to beat your previous record all the time) so you tend to shift faster drive slower while with the GTI/GLI...... you're not a car noob so you know the drill . The money saved on gas could get you a used toy E46 M3 or s2000 so your need for speed will be fullfilled. Think about it no premium gas+amazing MPG=major savings.

Go for an E46, my 323i has been super reliable and they are quite a deal now.

now i am down to my final 4 months, and its between a new Jetta GLI or F30 328i. i know that is an apples to orange comparison, but those are my 2 favorite 4 door sedans right now. i need to see, smell, test drive the F30 before I make a decision.

i think USA dealerships will have F30 demos mid-Feb (2/11/12)?

OMG those modern Alfa's are gorgeous but as mentioned before, not here in the U.S.

Don't get a CC; it looks great on the outside but the interior is very claustrophobic. They had to chop a lot of the roofline off to make it a "four-door coupe." The engine and transmission are okay, though.

I'd get a Golf TDI for the novelty factor. The only gripe I have is the price. $24k starting price for a DD. You're not saving any money here, either on purchase price or fuel.
