agreed. i think it might be more common with immigrant families because that's how they were raised as well..

i used to get hit in the ass with a clothes hanger lol while kneeling on wood floors. then i had to sit in the corner on my knees for an hour haha. was not fun.

For those of you that think it is minor or not that bad, I feel for you. What that girl was subjected to and what some of you have had done to you is child abuse. If someone did that to you in your adult life they would be jailed and you would press charges.
I was disciplined as a child and a teen and got my ass beat a few times but never to that extent. I hope you can break the cycle of abuse, as a parent myself I could never bring myself to do that.

As other folks with foreign parents have stated I didn't see anything extreme. Did it last longer than necessary? Probably. But the father didn't punch her, kick her, beat her with a bat, or whip her above the waste.

The thing about Asian parents is that what ever they have in their hands, they will throw it at you. In my experience, respect is earned, not beaten into someone. I hate to break it to you guys but if you were punched in the face as a child, you are a victim of child abuse. Blaming it on cultural differences is a cop out. I'm Irish... does that give me a legitimate excuse to be an alcoholic? Certainly not.

My brother and I were disciplined harshly growing up (Yes we're Asian), but did we ever report anything to the police or anything...No. That's because we were only disciplined when we did something stupid. Yeah we cried and resisted and I've had everything from a whip to the belt and spatula and I still love and respect my parents.

What this video shows is just a snippet of what has happened to this girl, and for her to record and post this means she does not love or respect her parents. This is abuse plain and simple. My parents hit me to discipline me never did I feel that my parents hated me I knew what I did wrong, you can feel the hatred/anger from the dad in this vid.

On a side note my older brother had it way worse than I did and he has never laid a hand on any of his children, and they are the most respectful bunch of kids I ever met.
