I am in the market for a new car and was thinking of leasing a 328 because the 335 is too expensive, but a 135i would be right in my ball park. When do you guys think dealers will begin taking orders for them?

Whats the gas mileage on it? Could do real well in America if gas averages $4 here.

BMW is stupid for putting the TT engine into the 1. Damn, I don't feel special anymore!

I don't mind the 5 series having it, but a 1? That's just rediculous.

BMW is not going to sabotage their 335 sales like that. They are did almost everything in their power to get 335 not to compete too closely with upcoming M3. There has to be something weak about the 135?

I don't see how they can put our engine in that little thing and still keep 3-series sales up. Most people bought the 335 for the engine...if they put it in the 1-series, no one will want a 335i unless trunk room and cabin space mean a lot to them.

Hard to believe they'd do this unless they were going to introduce a new 3-series with a better engine...

Yeah, seems doubtful, it's odd enough that the 3 and 5 series share the same engines, now the 1 series? I'd wager they only offer the 1 in the base 3.0L, and maybe something smaller (what do the minis have?)

Good God that's a little speed demon. I still would rather have my E92 335i for the luxury and styling, though. That thing looks horrible, but damn does it have speed. I'm glad it's still high priced, $35k, so not every little shmuck with some of daddy's cash is going to buy one and think they're Mario Andretti.

I'd consider buying a 150i 6MT.

Hell, I'd EVEN seriously consider it if it included the V-10 from the M5 as long as I could get a manual transmission....

BMW is not supposed to be about "status", it's supposed to be about the driving experience. I ain't buying one for status. Hell, my neighbors can't even SPELL BMW....

MINIs have a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder.

Coopers are naturally aspirated and make 115 HP (pre '07 versions) while the Coooper S's make 168 HP and the John Cooper Works makes 210 HP (that's what mine is). All of these figures are for 02-06 models. Newer ones have a different engine but still a 1.6 liter.

the gills you see are from a photochop. and if the 335 didn't come with a limited slip, then neither will its little brother, the 135.

I think car and driver's being a bit optimistic on the pricing, those will likely be priced closer to the 3 than they claim

it'll be well worth it though, finally a small BMW!

no doubt--it seems as though the 3 keeps getting bigger and heavier--this could be a nice smaller, sportier car.

OMG it's hedious. But judging by its size this car should conform closer to BMW's original principle, building a driver's car. Instead of bloated and heavy cruiser they have these days.

why? there are lots of cars cheaper and faster than the 335

what the 335 beats those cars in is ride quality and luxury features

the 1 almost certainly will be more stiffly sprung and give a sportier ride

the 1 and 3 are not really in competition, the 1 is small and sporty, the 3 is roomier and more of a grand tourer

think of the 3 vs the 5 of just a few years ago, it's the same thing.

lol--you and a lot of others...

Now we'll have to see threads like "My 335 still kicks your 135's ass, and the 328's ass for good measure"

I think its going to be funny....

As a 335i owner, I am not mad at all. I bought the car based on a number of things..not just speed. The styling, features, and size also played a role.

The 135i is a great car, but the size is too Civic SI, Scion tC for my taste.
