I'm not sure what's more likely, news organizations using 300kph to sound more dramatic, or because they don't know how to convert it to mph. Either way it's a sad commentary on the state of news media.

I'm pretty sure they were using kph due to the fact that Canada is on the metric system.

My dad's lawyer friend was killed a few years ago by a drunken man riding a scooter going 40ish km/h. If going 300km/h on a public road isn't a crime, than I don't know what is.

Stop being so melodramatic. Notice how the news station DELIBERATELY used 300 KPH? No one uses metrics in that fashion... They did it to make it sound more sensational. Get over yourselves America. As dumb as he is, there's also the other end of the spectrum where people are too scared to go 65+. You find a compromise; not pander to the fear-mongering public.

You know almost the rest of the world uses KM/H?

USA is not the only country in the world.

I was responding to an earlier post citing *American* news organizations quoting the 300kph figure instead of converting it to mph.

Please pay better attention before you resort to ridicule.
