used to go pretty often when i was a kid, a barge near long beach (had to take a boat there). most memorable thing i caught was this (don't know what it's called):
(in chinese it's 十九公, "nineteen lord") it was quite a session... i remember it was a friday the 13th. but somehow my lucky day. caught like 40+ covinas (with one rod!) and that thing. |

ahh help.. i love fishing but..
I've been to different lakes and stayed almost full days multiple times and couldn't catch anything.. I tried to use worms and lures but just can't seem to land any fish on any lakes.. Any advice would be great and i've tried looking into good lures but don't know which one to buy.. |

Just started after about 15 years.
My friend just got a boat and takes us out to the bay. Looking for redfish this weekend. Just bought my first rig yesterday. Nothing special just a starter. Ugly stik 10-25 medium Shimano spheros 4000 And some 30 lb braided line. It better work. We caught alot last week, almost too much action to drink a beer. Had bites every minute or so. |

I live in an area with a lot of great places to go fishing. Most of my friends are really into it, but its just not my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong its fun if your not alone, but I'm just a guy who throws a worm on the line and enjoys the company.

Reason for all the questions is this. If say you're looking to catch stocked trout. You'll need a sliding sinker type rig and PowerBait. For catfish get chicken livers and have the bait sink to the bottom. For bass you can use Senko worms with a texas rig. Your target will determine what setup you need and are are many. The more information you have the greater your chance of success. |

I love fishing but I seem to never have time to do it and the gas and supplies can get really pricey with a 200 gallon tank and twin engines. There are a bunch of other hobbies that I have that compete for time slots. I just hate setting everything up and trailering the boat because its so time consuming here in Charleston. My other house in New Jersey has a dock on the water with the boat right there and im more than willing to go offshore for the day, but just wish I was closer to the inlet. It's an hour ride from my dock to when we clear the inlet and another hour or 2 to our spots. The ride back gives me the major sleepies which I love if im not piloting. For anyone who travels offshore, you really should look in to E-Sea-Rider bean bag chairs. They absorb all of the shock.

California shut down the salmon season this year, but Oregon still is open!

I enjoy the fishing part, the prep not so much. I have gone on fishing trips with people who know what they are doing and that is fun. Also did a guided trout fishing day trip that was also pretty fun. However my attempts to go fishing on my own have be total failures.
I couldn't even get the fucking line setup. I saw 20 youtube videos on how to do the setup and tie the proper knots but my fingers said fuck you it's impossible! Then there's finding the right spots etc. |

I THOUGHT about either the dock or the surf for this past weekend.
Then I received my honey-do list . . .
