Ground turkey is the shiznit. My wife makes "turkey sausage" with it for breakfast. Basically just the 97% lean stuff with different spices/seasonings. Tastes just like breakfast sausage to me (albeit a bit on the dry side).
Bread is my weakness. I love it, but when I eat it regularly I gain weight like crazy. IMO there are too many empty calories, even in the "healthy" breads. Tons of carbs and unless you are doing a ton of exercise to use those carbs appropriately, they will be stored as fat. I try to stick to foods and meals that don't require bread. I guess it's kind of Paleo but I don't really call it that, it's just what I do. On cheat days, I might have a burger, but some places can serve a mean burger wrapped in lettuce. Also, wraps with big pieces of romaine lettuce are awesome, and I think they may taste even better than flour tortilla wraps.

You are definitely right about the bread, generally I don't eat bread, Green leaf lettuce, and romaine both make for great wrap substitutes. You can also use collard leaves if you remove the stems...

I like to make spinach onion and mushroom turkey meatballs with 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs. Always turn out so good if you bake them in the oven

Crab cakes with pommery mustard sauce @ Bartlett's for lunch today-
The pommery sauce used to be quite bitter but it was pleasantly mild this time around. I think in the past they didn't completely cook out the alcohol. The nice thing about these crab cakes is that there's very little filling. Well I think crab cakes aren't that unhealthy so I didn't mind posting this in light of this topic's turn towards posting more healthful foods ![]() |

I really like using different mustards because they generally only have 5 to 10 calories a tsp. Here's a good tip, find a mustard that you like, and mix a few tbsp's of it with 1 tbsp of the low calorie mayo, this will stretch the mayo, and you will have a really tasty low calorie alternative. This is my all time favorite horseradish mustard and it only has 5 calories a tsp. http://buy.woebermustard.com/product...52d-16oz..html

No problem, you have to be creative and learn ways to reduce calories while maintaining some flavor, you will pick up on little tricks as you go along.

This thread has been fascinating to peruse.
It has made me feel like I'm the odd man out in the sense that I literally give no more than 5 minutes a day thinking about a given meal.

Don't need it. I usually use one egg and some Italian seasoned breadcrumbs but it's definetly not needed if you want to make it a little healthier
