James Cameron talks about Avatar: The Way of Water in an interview with Chris Wallace.

"Believes it will break even, and is confident Disney will proceed with the sequels."

"Avatar: The Way of Water stands at $1.54 billion worldwide, having just passed Top Gun: Maverick as the top-grossing release of 2022. It’s also the 9th grossing movie ever and the second top grossing film of the pandemic after Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.9 billion)."

I enjoyed that movie. Definitely creepy. The thoughts of children being kidnapped like that creeps me out.

Yeah, it's definitely creepy seeing movies like this through kid's eyes.

***slight spoiler for The Black Phone?***

I think Ethan Hawke's miscast though, guy's too nice/handsome to be that, that's why they tried to do that weird mask thing.

One of my younger clients suggested a movie I had never heard of, I'm sure some here have though. Curious if it's worth watching or if it's garbage.

It's called "The Dog Pound"

Finished The Black Phone earlier today. Liked it from beginning to end. As I mentioned in another post thought the leading kid was good and liked Ethan Hawke as well. Nice and creepy.

Exclamation

You already know... I am there! The only kind of movies I will actually go and see outside my own Theater. This looks so damn good.
And my boy Johnathan Majors doing his thing as Kang The Conqueror.

Was reading up on the movie “The Black Phone” and found out the movie was adapted from a short story written by Joe Hill, who is the son of Stephen King.

His real name is Joseph Hillstrom King but feared publishers would print anything he wrote to make money on his last name so he wrote under a pseudonym and was able to keep his identity a secret for more than 10 years. He has a younger brother named Owen King who is also a writer.

"The villain in Hill's original story was patterned after serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who raped, tortured, and murdered at least 33 young men and boys in the 1960s and '70s."

I just recently finished reading The Institution by his father, and immediately thought this might be about that. It wasn't, but strange coincidnce still.

Watched “Plane” tonight. Enjoyable with some cheesy parts. Pretty typical Gerard Butler action movie like Olympus Has Fallen.

Jog my memory, is this the one you succinctly put as a 'smarter, female Chucky'?

Finally got time to watch the new Avatar. Decided with it being such a long movie that we should splurge. Did the Regal 3dRPX and man that was the way to do it! Only two other people in the massive theater, separated stadium seating with leather recliners. Forgot how nice that is, typically we stick with the $5 seats (still nice) at a different theater.

The script was almost there, what a shame, still a great movie and can't imagine seeing it in anything but 3D. The underwater parts felt like you were there. Glad we finally went.
