As I mentioned last week, we went to Seattle for my son’s wedding over the weekend. A fun place to go is the Museum of Pop Culture, and we went on Friday. They have that very guitar Jimi played at Woodstock. Also sat and admired this musical “tree” for a while. Cool stuff!

The author (George RR Martin) says that he was trying to make something like Tolkien's LOTR trilogy. Which, of course, has been touched upon by so many rock bands, such as Zeppelin (Ramble On, The Battle of Evermore) and Rush (Rivendell) and Black Sabbath (The Wizard).

Here is another early Scorpions song, a bit of a deep cut. The backstory is very interesting: Jimi Hendrix girlfriend (Monika Dannemann) wrote this about his death. She later became the GF of Uli Jon Roth (Scorpion's guitarist at the time) and they put it on an album. Uli Jon Roth's guitar work here is unparalleled. It is both beautiful and a full-on hard rock masterpiece:
