Anyone else think BJ Penn is fighting Fitch too soon? I don't know why they gave him a fight like this right after he gets his feet back under him... Fitch is a VERY under-rated fighter. Possibly the most under-rated fighter in the UFC. I would even argue Fitch should be considered in the top 10 pound for pound best fighters in the world. They are throwing BJ to the wolves and it's crap imo... But maybe he can rise to the occation, I don't know.

^^^If BJ doesn't regain his intensity then he has NO chance in this fight...last time out he looked sluggish and tentative...not typical BJ...

I'll have to disagree. I don't think Fitch can stand with him. And on the ground while Fitch is a good wrestler, I don't see him being able to submit BJ.

You are right...I missed his last fight due to work commitments..the last one I actually saw he looked sluggish.

and thats the thing, will Fitch really want to take someone like BJ down? the way BJ can pull rubber guard, few have had success keeping him down or doing real damage

standing up, I dont see Fitch lasting too long if its the BJ we saw against Hughes

Fitch could actually win via decision if he can consistently take bj down. The only way bj has a chance against fitch is keeping it standup,

I think this is a bad match up for BJ, I can see Fitch grinding out another decision. When I first heard about this fight months ago I was disappointed with the match up. I'm going for BJ though.

Yup, that is all Fitch ever does. He is just going to grind out all 3 rounds and win by decision.

And I don't think BJ is going to get much chance to keep it standing or even do much damage standing. Thiago Alves couldn't do it and he is a far better striker than BJ and has strong takedown defense as well.

Fitch will just keep knocking him down, sit in guard and do enough to get a decision. I don't see him submitting or TKOing BJ, but I don't see BJ submitting Fitch either (not if Fitch sits in his guard anyway).

The only way I see BJ winning is if he somehow manages to get his BJJ game going and can get Fitch out of his guard. Fitch is just too experienced to be caught with something in guard.
