Anybody had it? Thoughts?
I'm a RUM connoisseur. Haven't had that particular one. In general, it's a solid brand. I can recommend absolutely delicious ones if you're a fan.

Thank you sir! New to rum at a level higher than your typical liquor store offering. I'm always interested in learning.

Cosign on Centenario 20 and Diplimatico. If you ever see Centenario 25, just get the 20yr because its not that much different than the 25 and its cheaper. The 25yr is not worth the extra price IMO. Diplimatico Reserva Exclusiva is just a solid sipper all around.

Correct. I did try the 25 Centenario as well. 20 is just as good but a better value.

Diplomatico was my entrance into Sipping Rums over 15yrs ago.

And you must try the ZAFRA! Absolutely wonderful.

Did you ever wonder why good rum is aged in bourbon casks, good bourbon is aged in rum casks, and both rum and bourbon are aged in wine casks? Just hit me, maybe it's the bourbon and wine...

The flavor profile is just gross to me. It's a little harsh as well.

I brought a bottle (based on recs here) to my nephews house at least a year ago. It's still there, neither of us could drink it.

Simply not in my wheelhouse.

You got the Reserva Exclusiva? I have heard that some of the others in their stable are indeed harsh, but this one is pretty smooth & sweet...at least it is to me. Not far off of the Centenario TBH, just a different flavor profile.

I believe it was. Are their bottles very similar in labeling between vintages, and I got the wrong one??

I even went back after a few months, it *could* have been my palate or something. I ended up filling the glass with diet coke to be able to not throw it down the drain and be accused of sacrilege.

I can't even comprehend this particular Rum I pictured being harsh. It is very smooth and sweet. Delicious!

So strange! Not trying to push you back to it since you don't like it...it is POSSIBLE the bottle you had was bad. I once had a Dahlmore 12yr a friend bought for me and it tasted...IDK...kinda harsh and I was not a fan. BUT, I am always willing to try stuff, so my dad & I went out and grabbed drinks and I tried the same stuff in a restaurant bar we frequented. TOTALLY different experience! This stuff was actually pretty good, I went home and tried my bottle again and it tasted like crap. I came to the conclusion that the bottle was just bad...corked like wine sort of. Its rare with booze, but it can happen. My two cents on the matter. But hay, we investigated and made sure it was the same rum we were all talking about! LOL
