The F8x issue is that the PSS were an improper choice for a stock tire... Re11s or any extreme performance tire would have blown them out of the water. Comp pack shall resolve all this.
Dont kid yourself the M division went the turbo route because the bean counters at BMW won.
It's cheap power and more reliable than the closest thing to an exotic engine, the high revving S65 with individual TB's.

You're not going to have any issues with traction control on, on your way to the dog park.
Go to an autocross event, track, i bet you'll be last in your class.

All I know is that Ford can put a better V8 in a car that costs about half... I don't think the bean counters won, I think perhaps CAFE standards won... but either way, BMW could have never built a competitive modern V8 w turbo cars like the C63 and Ats coming out... they chose the best option and imho it was the best option. Be ready for a hybrid in a few years

I don't want to make this thread a f8x vs e9x M's, but E9x v8 is one of my personal favorite HIGH REVVING n/a v8 under 100k.

Torque? 335I has more torque? LOL. Is that why 911 GT3 is so popular?
Even a GTR has wayyyyyy more torque and hp than GT3, but i am fairly sure majority of people here without needing room in the back prefers GT3 over GTR.

I am willing to put money on it that 80-90% of randomnly chosen people would choose a turbo S over a GT3... as not everyone is an arm chair track addict as everyone on here... to take things further, about 15% of M cars are tracked

You're kidding. I haven't seen any manufacturers even NOW yet to make over 100hp/L NA V8 engine except Ferrari, Audi, and ??

BMW did R&D on S65 at around late 06, and got the car ready for sale on late 07-early 08?

Honda did it with a 4 banger... the reason you don't see that too often is because it generally produces an unreliable engine for the street that suffers extreme stress. At the same time, a high revver like that, comes at the expense of torque. The last comment... well thats why so many blew ?.

Hshahahahahahaha

So not true, but cheers mate.

I just prefer setting my limits on my own. That doesn't make me especially good, it just works for me.

Oh, I object to the coffee thing. Coffee can never be bad if it's black.

You're comparing with 4cyl Honda?
As I said before, we are talking V8 na.
If s65 used flat planed, it would had much more hp thank 414/420.
Honda engines are unreliable? Engine stress? Even as a BMW owner, that sounds silly.

I know you are 335i fan and I respect that, but if you ask anyone who are into cars, you would be minority to pick FI 3.0L 335 N55 over S65.
If I were you I would at least used Flat-Planed V8 examples vs s65.

High revving engines require more maintanence and generally wear far heavier. This is why you need the magic crazy viscosity M oil for your car... the blown rods, had to do with crazy tolerances that extreme pressures at those rpm ranges aggravated. Hell no, I wouldn't choose an N55 over an S65... but I would definitely choose an S55/N54 over an S65. Flat plane... I do believe I talked about mustang V8s ?... 350r comes to mind.

Then get the boring twin turbo inline 6, Ferrari is still making NA high revving V8's not because they're the most reliable but because they're more fun.

Because people join after they blew their s65 doesn't mean it blew mine aND @v1.47fan's engine.
I would say s65 is probably much more reliable than N55 and it's intercooler after 10 laps at Monza or hot Sepang circuit. LOL. ( I predict that you will talk modded n55 on your next thread)

I think lots of guys are actually using 0w40 if you went to oil thread. I will be on 0w40 next month when my oil change are due. Yup. The s65 can take M1 0w40 and 10w60.

Oh yeah. Some are on pennzoil ultra 5w40 ( AKA Ferrari oil).
