The Donkey Wompers can be serious pricks, we were in NS on a training exercise with Fleet Diving Unit (RCN), MDSU (USN), Fleet Diving Unit (RN) and the RCMP, one of our guys got stopped driving a marked TPS Truck for speeding by an RCMP guy in Truro, got strapped on. Just a classless move. If I recall the guys name was Sgt.Tucker. The RCMP guys we were on course with were so embarrassed they paid the ticket for him. It's a good thing you didn't run into that one guy. I got stopped by the QPP on the same trip on the way down driving the same truck, we were hauling ass, made if from Toronto to Quebec City in about 6 hours. They followed us for about 20 minutes waiting to hear back from out department, the only thing they were concerned with was that the truck wasn't stolen.

We used to have a town cop when I was in high school that was on such a power trip that everyone in town thought he would write a snow ordinance ticket on his own mother's car for parking outside the church on a 50F sunny Sunday morning.....

My first posting with the then Metropolitan Toronto Police Force (now Toronto Police Service) was 12 Division, I grew up in 12, not the best part of the city. In fact at the time it was the worst. 67% of the calls were high priority, and although it was the smallest division in Toronto with only 7 patrol areas it had the most calls for service. Trial by fire. And to top it off you were given this pamphlet on your first day at the station. There was a sign over the officers entrance door "Hotel California". I later learned you can check out but never leave.
Merry Christmas everyone, and to my brothers in Blue. Stay safe, Peace. |

It was not too busy last night, no MVAs, gun shot wounds etc...Just regular medical events. I had a chance to chat with some of the First Responders. We had a few good laughs. You guys are always full of stories and of course we have some of our own. We have different jobs but we sure have a lot in common. BTW, a while back, I was taught by one Officer what you call " Come along techniques". It often comes very handy.
Love you guys! Attachment 2773198 Last edited by Lady Jane; 01-06-2022 at 06:09 PM.. |

I may be beating a dead horse but is there a reason why PD's haven't adopted 45s for issue? Recoil? Magazine capacity?

No benefit. Penetration and stopping power aren't that much better when weighed against magazine capacity, cost of ammo, etc. The 9mm loads we use are specific to law enforcement.

The same reason many forces went to the .40 cal as well. 10mm were to hard to shoot for lots of people and the same is true of the .40 over 9mm. A .45 has zero stopping power if you can't shoot it or hit the target.

Like Sedan said, modern 9mm ammo is just as effective as .45 and the pistol can hold more ammo. Also, training and supply costs less. |

Yep, you hit the nail on the head; 147 grain though. We are also authorized to use two other approved ammo options.
