It's cool. Different strokes for different folks. I like your program and would do it if that's what I was going for. Some of what you have I think is overkill, but again, personal preference. Everyone's body deals with the stress differently.

For now, I want to perfect my form and gain basic strength, so when I go into a more intense program, I'm ready to lift heavier weight. Coming from a pure cardio background (I was a college swimmer), I don't have a lot of experience lifting. I'm using it to get my form down and gain strength (maintaining form). So far it has been working for me, and I am having fun doing it, which I think is most important. After all, what good is it if you don't enjoy it?

Tuesday I really meant to go to the gym.
I took a nap after getting up and having breakfast instead.

Then I went all George Foreman after lunch and dug up the whole garden, bought and carried 15 yd3 of peat moss for said garden, then cleaned the chicken coop and have a full bin of dirt/chicken shit/grass in the compost bin.

Last night was mom's b-day, so no time for workouts there. Hoping tonight, but wife said she is making chile rellenos. . . . generally they need to be accompanied by tequila.

Since Saturday I've been to the gym only two times Tuesday and Weds. I can't wait for the holidays to get thru. Well I spent 2.5 hours blowing the leaves today, that's considered exercise right?

Well well well...

After really grinding out a a deadlift 1RM of 365# about two weeks ago, I yanked that weight right off the floor with ease today. Felt really good, so I went for 405#, 4 plates (huge benchmark for me, considering I started weight training 3.5 months ago, and had a 1RM of 315#)!

Just barely missed it!

Got it off the floor, and had my legs nearly locked, but I felt it in my lower back too much, and decided to pull out (lol) and drop it so I don't injure myself.

I don't even care I didn't complete a full rep with 405#, I'm just surprised I even got it off the floor.

Definitely makes up for an awful workout week in my book...

That's great. I am usually stronger after a couple of days rest but the hard part is getting back to the gym after a 2 day rest that turns into a 4 day rest. Today will be my 2nd day of rest if I don't make it to the gym tonight and as of right now I'm already planning to skip. lolz

haha, if I had seen this last night I might have gone. I just have too many excuses and one of them being that the temperature dropped last night to below freezing. I just wanted to go home and cuddle with my girls and finish putting up the xmas tree. lolz

It aint even turkey day yet, and you are putting up a tree???

I refed a game at 10 and 12, then played at 3. I kept running, but I was getting cramps in the hammies and calfes near the middle of the game. Blood sugar dropped to 40 and I couldn't get my wind back very well after that. May leave early from work and go sit in a bath of ice, I'm pretty sore today.

OK, after the bacony goodness of stuffed-chicken wrapped in bacon, I went in with the intention of trying back/bi for the night. Got to say that was a bit more work than I expected, more total reps on the back than usual, and the forearms were in pain.

I hadn't been in for about a week, and dropped from 204/5 to 201. That means I lost at least 3 lbs of muscle, cause I damn sure aint eating better and losing fat.

Gotta do legs tonight so I have enough time to rest before Friday night soccer game.

I was out for a week also, but somehow I managed to drag myself to the gym last night after work and It was freaking cold out. I started with 5x5 on the squats and followed up with 4 back exercises. I like to start the week off with my back because I feel like that's one of my stronger body parts and it thickens me up real fast. I also lost about 4 lbs from the week off. 155#s to 151. I'm gonna swing by tonight and get some chest workouts in. Wishful thinking . Oh yeah , the xmas tree went up early because we just bought our first house and we're just excited for the kids. It's our first pre-lit xmas tree so it's just up with the lights on. We'll trim it after Thanksgiving.

Come on guys, are you kidding me? You're using the cold weather as an excuse to not get a workout in? Get your asses up and get it done. Cold weather means you have to work even harder in your workouts, and make sure your body is fully warmed up, which means you have to go to the gym with even more energy and motivation.

If you keep waiting for the opportunity to fall in your laps, you'll be waiting for an eternity. If you go out and create opportunities for yourself, then, and only then, will you reach your goals and find success.

A simple quote that drives me day in and day out: The Man in the Arena

I absolutely LOVE it when it's cold out, and I'm walking out of my car and into the gym. I don't wear a jacket, just a t-shirt. No pants on leg day, shorts. I want to go through hell and come out on top.

3.5 months ago, no back. No muscle. Just skin and bones. Finally starting to see something back there:

Other than vigorously jerking off, what else works the forearms? That weird forearm curl thing seems strange to do. Can these be worked in conjunction with another exercise?

Jerking off with weights on your wrists?

Honestly, the forearm curl is the best to directly work the forearm. Otherwise, things like deadlifts and bicep curls will indirectly work the forearms, but they will be worked nonetheless. Patience is key, if your forearms aren't growing, just be patient and hit them directly, they will grow.

Do reverse grip tricep pull downs (palms facing up) with a straight bar and reverse grip bicep curl (palms down). They both require significantly more grip strength than normal grip versions.

So I'm sitting in my truck this morning and feeling the lats from Monday night, and also noticing that this shirt I have worn plenty of times (long sleeve) needs some of those Deluth trading gussets, because I feel like my pits are going to burst out. No, it's not the fat, that feels different when squishing out over the belt, this is a newly returned musculature.

I still remember that one Dr. I saw for about 2 years to treat my diabetes. She was more of a female endocrine practice, and did my initial evaluation on a previous visit. While waiting on a follow-up, my chart was left in the room. It's not a HIPPA violation if I read my own jacket. "Possesses significant muscle development"

Ahh, younger days. . .
