I felt like the old days of surfing for hours when I got home yesterday. Went chest/tri and finished by just sitting in front of the TV screen doing overhead tri extensions until I couldn't do any more, hoping the Jets would score 2 touchdowns in the 4th so I could win the pool. Oh well, at least I won the first quarter.
Between sets doing twists with a long pole behind my neck I had a new sensation. I don't think the front delts have ever cramped up, but they sure did last night. Tonight the plan is to take my son to the batting cages to start his weekly workout with a new trainer, then spend at least 30 minutes on the elliptical at home, again in front of the TV, maybe watching SHIELD. |

Legs definitely means the sweatiest shirt. I should not have picked cloth to redo my truck bench if I knew
Funny thing I overheard. Dude walks up to chat a chick and she tells him #pickupsomeweights |

Lol @ Yahoo news: "The Aussie actor [Hugh Jackman] showed off his superhuman strength on Sunday when he posted an Instagram video from his New York gym, where he could be seen dead lifting a whopping 405 pounds for five whole reps! Five reps. Four hundred and five pounds." [LINK]
My weak ass who started lifting 4 months ago can lift 405#. No belt/no straps/no shoes. I'll be able to get five reps of 405# in no time. Too many ill-informed news reporters... In other words, had a decent chest/tris/abs workout today. Back/bis tomorrow. Want to focus on my rear delts, lats, abs, and legs during the final 4 months of my bulk... Halfway done with 8 month bulk, about 35# put on so far [173-208#]. Aiming for about 20-25 the final 4 months, somewhere near 230# while maintaining body fat around 14-15%. Then to shed away the fat and get RIPPED!! How's everyone? |

I got a compliment of sorts over the weekend. I went to my soccer game, and 2 of the referees were teens who normally gravitate to me for some reason during youth play. Both joined in to "compliment" me as I walked onto the field saying I looked like a rugby player, not a soccer player, I was too muscular.
In the second half of the game I let in a couple of goals because I got my hand on it, but just couldn't deflect the ball out of the goal. The center defender decided he wanted to try his hand at it and asked to wear my goalie jersey. It's actually my son's and I warned him it might not fit. His reply was that I'm a lot more muscular than he, if I can wear it he can. That was Sunday afternoon, so for dinner last night my son and I had cheeseburger-macaroni then sat and watched the football game until my wife came home. |

Kevin,
Get that son of yours that has to take shots into SOMETHING athletic. Having done it, I really recommend soccer. If you can get him hooked on the running part, his A1C's for life will be better. I'm 48 and still playing after at least 36 years. . . |

When he was on the HS football team he was working out pretty hard but the season just ended so I might get him a gym membership for xmas. I'll mention soccer to him but I can already tell he doesn't like running. I think he's around 180-190#s 5'8". At one point he was trying to go for 200#s because he was an offensive lineman.

I've actually been debating getting on an indoor soccer team to burn some time. It's been about 4 years since I last played, but it really is a great way to get out and get a good leg workout in.
With that being said, I've been sticking to my 12:00 gym session here at the plant. Not really "seeing" the progress, but I have been trying to add 10/20lbs to what I was previously putting up on butterflys, presses, and pulls. Gotta get dat Christmas body. |

Our HS team transitions from Football to "Fit for Life" or some BS like that, and the team members who aren't involved in another sport just keep playing/training/lifting. For baseball last year, my son was in "self-defense" class last period. I guess if you can learn to protect yourself with a stick when someone throws a ball at you, it's self-defense

Is there a Doctor in the house? Anyways, I've had this pain in my left elbow since the last time I worked out. From my log it was Friday Nov. 21st Biceps and triceps. Only bothers me when I grip something really tight. Luckily I'm right handed so it hasn't stopped me from fapping.

Not a doctor, but I usually get pain in that area whenever I do heavy incline dumbbell presses, and anything overhead tricep related. Just takes rest to go away! |

I sure hope so, it's been 3 weeks and I hope it's not tennis elbow or tendonitis.

It's still hurting after 3 weeks? Have you stopped working triceps? Mine went away after a week or so of rest. Ice for the first couple of days, use some ibuprofen/naproxen, then heat every day after. I would suggest stop using it entirely (no bench, no upper body/push type stuff, no triceps work). Since it's been hurting a while, get some heat on it and take something. I like naproxen (Aleve) because you can take one in the morning and one at night and not have to mess with a bunch of pills every four hours.

At this point in an injury, I'd be doing a combo of hot/cold to help increase blood flow to the area. Heat first, then cold.

I strained my lumbar helping a friend last weekend so my back has been bothering me. Workouts have been a little slow because of it. Today is shoulders. Looking forward to it because I can hit them hard by doing most of it seated to relieve the lower back stress.

It's happened to me in the past. It usually occurs when I push too much weight with bad form. Drop the weight a bit and focus on good form with a full range of motion. I stopped chasing big numbers and started concentrating on doing things right and my rate of little injuries like that has dropped significantly. My knees are feeling a lot better and my shoulders aren't bothering me as much. Joint issues in general have become non-existent for the most part. A lot of people (myself included) like to think that they keep good form but if you really concentrate on it and pay attention to it you'll realize just how much you cheat to push more weight.
