Would be pretty narrow minded to think that people would judge you negatively based on your choice of car. My comment has nothing to do with how much YOU spend on clothes. It's how you perceive others and how much THEY spend on clothes.

edit: The answer I want is world peace and people who are more open minded.

I think $300 jeans are amazing if you only pay $50 for them. NORDSTROM RACK FTW!! However, spending $300 on jeans is fucking crazy.

The most expensive jeans I own, I got on sale at Nordstorm Rack. you don't have to spend a lot to look like a million bucks. Don't be the guy with the $2,500 wallet with nothing it in. Be the guy with the $100 wallet with $2,400 inside

I come from a family when both of my parents have 20+ years of experience in the clothing industry.

They will never, EVER spend 300+ dollars on jeans. Ever. The only thing I dislike about their taste in clothing is... Crocs...

I have no issue with buying 300 dollar jeans, if they clear my criteria.

No child labor in the production chain.
Produced in countries I can track down the chain.
The company is not on my black list.

Might as well resign those to the dustbin of history..

I want to reanimate ancient clothes from my wardrobe too, but find it hard to make it work style wise.
I don't like those skinny everything pants, but seems weird when u wear anything else now

Jeans:
Make sure ass looks firm.

Color: Don't care.

Boot cut.

When have I tried to play off the role of a style guru here lol? I can honestly say no man has ever gone after me for wearing what im wearing and I'm quoting my best friend here:

" I love you to bits but I'm getting married in two hours. You're my bestman. Just please. Find an appropriate dress or anything girly. Just fucking do it."

I'm no style guru either.. just realized I probably make life more difficult than it has to be, by not caring TO A FAULT what other people think. Just put on something nice, it beats explaining to everybody, no, you are not a bum
It also offends pppl when u underdress them ALL the time
Not trying to go to the other extreme making clothes a bigger deal than they should, just trying to get back to the norm

And that completely illustrates people's spending perspective.

There are people with a $2500 wallet and $0 inside.
There are people with a rubber band around $2500.
And then there are people in between.
Life is about where do you fall on the spectrum.

Priorities and interest always influence your mindset on how much you are willing to spend on certain items.

If one is always on the "$2500 wallet" side of the spectrum with a limited income, there becomes an issue.

But maybe in this one case, wallets are their passion and they are polar opposites on every other purchase.

It's easy to judge people from the outside, but it's hard to know their story.

Example, a person may have a $1,000 purse with a low paying job. Maybe, they sacrificed for years to earn that purse and that is a great sense of achievement for them. Friends of theirs at work may be spending their income on Starbucks, lunches out of the office, etc. while this person hoards their money in hopes to one day purchase that bag.

I often ask my wife, "would you rather have 10 $5 shirts or 2 $25 shirts?" There was a time where she would accumulate a lot of inexpensive items only to have them sit in the closet. If you spend a bit more per item, have less, you will end up wearing them more often.

(Unless you are like me where I don't like to wear things I really love because I don't want to mess them up.)

My horrible logic: I love a clothing item, so I may pay an unreasonable, relative to me, price. Now I will not wear this clothing item because I do not want to "ruin" it."

I am working on this though, hahaha

I am one of those people that likes a few nicer things than a lot of shit.... I don't buy stuff too often but when I do it's typically nice... I can afford it, but i will never understand the people that buy fakes / counterfeits of luxury goods or hoard tons of cheap shit.

Haha.

I get it all. Most people need to show off their success. In jeans, cars, houses and so on, it's very normal.

I'm 33, so not a teenager. I haven't been single in 11 or so years and the people I need to impress I have already impressed.

I go shopping with my friends while I'm covered still in paint, I'm the one taken seriously. I go to a teachers meeting covered in paint: My kid gets what the kid wanted.

It works like this: I let you speak, I quote you in my arguments. You soon find new ways to shut up again.

When I was single I hated people who wanted me. It's easy to want if the exterior is there. Unraveling and finding the edges is where lies the way for a long haul.

My friends and my family knows me. I am very embarrassing to be around when on the road or when me. None of them ever would ask me to change (if not for the "god you're gonna wear jeans. To a beach. Anna. Find a fucking dress or something girly or you'll totally ruin my mil's fireplace!!! I will not look at our wedding pics and you being there in those! Shorts. You must have those!!").

I found a dress. I just like scaring that poor bloke who's scared of his mil.

Looks play a huge part in our lives. I know I've gotten off easy but jeez people... Let go...

yeah i was dressing like a married guy, a wear leather slippers for casual more than half the year! I was out of the scene for a long time.. guess I'm going back in now. Plus shopping is too fun when things are cheap.
The problem now is do I look like someone my age, but most ppl my age are married, or do dress a little younger, but i find this hard to accept not to mention look ridiculous. Guess will have to find a good balance.
THere's this married couple who are about mid fourties, no children, they smoke and drink and stay up late everyday.. i don't want to come off as one of those.

I'm going to be honest and probably shock a lot of people. I have an LV briefcase $3,000.00,couple pairs of loubs and couple pairs of Valentinos roughly $1,000 each. A lot (like 15) of designer dresses ranging from $300 - $2,500 and you know what? I bought maybe 10% of everything I have and I hardly wear any of that. I'm happy wearing Express. That's where I mainly spend my dollars now. I wear TJ Maxx flats more than my designer shoes I don't need the fancy things anymore and I'm honestly so happy.

I have never really given my thoughts on $300 jeans. I would pay $300 for a pair of jeans. They would probably be a "boutique" Japanese denim jean not something bedazzled that Tommy Lee is endorsing. Like with any fabric and any product, there are different prices for different reasons. Sometimes, prices are not justified and are merely increased because of a brand's name, but sometimes quality and fit is what makes the item cost more.

Here are some articles about Japanese denim
http://www.highsnobiety.com/2012/11/...ds-best-denim/

http://www.heddels.com/2013/06/what-...im-so-special/
A Japanese denim site
http://www.okayamadenim.com

In a perfect world, the next pair of denim, I "buy" are going to be made at home with denim that I personally hand select.

Luckily, I can practice my pant making skills by making PJs for my nieces. So if you see a guy with really poorly made jeans, don't forget to wave!
