Very cool looking dog. My best friend of almost 14 years just passed today. I hope your dog is as loyal and loving as my chocolate schnauzer was to me.

best dog I ever had!
Really sorry to hear this. Bar none the hardest part of pet ownership is saying goodbye.

That's an awesome picture. Really reflects the character these breeds have.

Axel tolerates pretty much anything my wife subjects him to. But he does have an independent/stubborn streak, and is not afraid to show his displeasure at times!

Yes, that's the terrier in them. Stubborn as hell sometimes! Very active and athletic-not just a foo-foo dog breed. Muscular for their size and great watch dogs. Brody loved to play ball and figured out that the last set I would do on my garage equipment was triceps pushdowns and he and Isabel would start getting all excited the minute i began those reps, barking and dancing around in a joyous manner cause they knew it was playball time afterwords. Still brings a smile to my face through all the pain.

Ok-last dog story for the weekend, although maybe not. We had two females-a mother and daughter (home birth litter), and on their respective birthdays, my loving wife would bake a vanilla cake and we would sit around a table with the kids and a lit cake and the dogs would start howling when we lit the candles in anticipation of getting a piece and would do so all through the happy birthday song! Great fun.

That is awesome! They are so smart...in fact I didn't realize how smart the breed was until after we bought him and I started researching.

Axel can distinguish different toys (those he hasn't destroyed), knows what it means when you ask him....you ready for a bath, you want to go on the porch, you want to take a nap, etc. He will run to each respective place and wait on you.

Share as much as you like my friend, it's all part of the process. Plus I like hearing more about pets and what they do than listening about people on the news.

If more people shared the qualities of some of our pets, the world would be a much better place!

You are spot on with your observation regarding our pets! I love hearing stories about them and your little guy sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you receive many more years of happiness from his companionship. Brody followed me everywhere-waited outside the shower at night, sat while I shaved to get ready, sat beside me all day and even stayed with me when playing the drums! When entertaining guests at a cocktail party, he would stand by me and if I stepped a couple of inches to the left, he would also. That's the biggest thing right now-everything I do reminds me of him and my other dog is looking for him.
I kinda pity the people who have never had the love of a truly great dog although great sadness accompanies the end game, the small joys of daily life add up to huge rewards and lasting memories.
