Unc is bragging that our socal weather is pretty nice right now. But we both know damn well that come August/September we'll be huddling in some senior center for AC after our units die.

It's so hot here my voltmeter is showing ~109v. Normally I'm at ~121v.

71, Partly sunny.

High I can expect during Santa Anas is about 85.

I had a company come out to give me an estimate to put central A/C in for the wife's b-day. $17-28K, depending on options/warranties. So, I'll still be damp.

I do keep seeing those room coolers at HD for $3-500. I would have to put it in the bathtub to get the exhaust out the window, which means it would NOT blow on me in my bed, yet still chill the room.

Do they not have central AC as a standard feature in Oxnard? If not, is it because you're close to the coast, or is it in other homes there, or…?

Would say, is it because the homes are older? (Don't know if they are there)

My home has central AC and it was built in the mid 70s and I think that's pretty old.

Just wondering

No need. 14-21 days TOPS it's over 85 degrees. Mine was built in 1952, and we had to add central heating when we expanded. Maybe a few on the other side of the tracks have A/C from the start. The newest home I frequent, built in 2000s, had it added but I've only been there once when it was actually turned on.

It's like that in the Nard? Never knew. I've only gone a few times when going to camarillo outlets. But I'll be over soon once you start harvesting your crops.

Blackberries are going fast. Every night I'm eating about a dozen (all that I can find ripe) then next night there are more. Bunch of fertilizer over weekend, and a nightly Thank You spritz of water

The humidity finally cleared out. Tonight it's fairly dry and mid-70's. Beautiful weather. The constant thunder of the last few days has been replaced by fireworks. Fireworks just don't cut it when matched up with nature's fury.

This was Monday afternoon leaving work, about 5 miles north of the Portland Airport. The thermostat dropped all of 2 degrees to 113F on the 15 minute drive home, so it wasn't sun effect. 79 confirmed dead in Oregon, another 20 confirmed dead in Washington. On the west side of the mountains in both states, we just don't do heat - usually low humidity summers with temps in the 70s to 80s and maybe a week or two into the 90s. 100 degrees is a weather event for us, like a foot of snow. 115 F is a tough day in Phoenix. In the NW, it's beyond words.

45c are you kidding? In South East Queensland it's normal to get high 30's with 90+% humidity @ Christmas but that is insane.
