Yes, G20 M340i shares very similar numbers to the F80 M3. https://bimmerlife.com/2019/11/30/g20-m340i-acceleration-on-par-with-f80-m3-2/amp/ |

Next generation X5M would be right behind this one so the toe stepping wouldn't last long but isn't the current X3M already faster? X5M will always be superior in tech and luxury. Fractions of a second won't discourge future X5M owners. It is also safe to assume that at this point the G97 will still be built on the CLAR platform since the EV Neue Klasse platform won't debut until 2025-2026 on the 3 series. Maybe in the next generation X5M but I doubt it will be worth the R&D to bring plug-in hybrid tech to this class from the XM for 30 miles of range. Maybe some sort of electrical assistance for low end torque but who knows...it's early. I'm just hoping for one more generation of ICE madness for the X3MC and leave the plug in anything out. We need a G97 wishlist thread. Max Well where are you? 😁

I'm not seeing what you're seeing. These have the same proportions albeit a few different body parts.

kozzi - that seems like ages ago...
I've been so pleased with the F97 that the G97 X3MC list would be short for me: 1. True slick top - no pano or rails 2. Painted roof and side windshield trim (not the cheap grey rubber/plastic) 3. Lowered 1/2" 4. 265/295 wheels 5. Option to confirm PS4S from factory - even if have to pay more, rather than always playing the tire lottery 6. 40-50HP tune like current St1 offerings 7. Don't go all digital (leave us some buttons & knobs) 8. CFRP option for roof (you knew I'd mention it) |

those two images are not good to compare since you can't get a clear view of the width and length.

Curious as to possible design differences with my 2020 F97, I attempted to recreate the angle and distance away in two images with my X3MC this morning. The original Photographer(s) clearly had a telephoto lens with a better camera whereas I just have a cell phone, but these give a rough idea. Assuming the wheelbase and track width are similar, I superimposed and adjusted image size until the rear wheels (on rear view) and central wheel BMW emblems (on side view) aligned exactly in an attempt to equalize the scale.
The main obvious difference (in this rough estimation) is the elongation of the rear which, if not faked by Styrofoam and camo bulking, may be an attempt at improving the aerodynamic profile (as the X3's internal cargo bay is already large in comparison to its competitors so would seem an unlikely reason). I traced my 2020's rear outline in yellow onto the camo image once scaling was done for ease of comparison. Everything else seems to overlay remarkably well even though the image angle isn't exactly the same. The rear view supports this rear extension concept by also showing the roof understandably sloping further down and the sides tapering inwards even more. Will be following with interest as the G97 progresses to production as it will replace my 2020 if end result allows. |

I don't really think they can designate an m50 to the higher non full M powertrain. No way they are going to be putting near 500hp for an x3 that is not a true M unless they are going towards a hybrid with twin turbo and electric motor boost?
Times out for a 2025 model year and works perfectly for when my 2022s lease will be up. Guess I know what my next X3 will be

Yeah I could see that. The proportions are a bit out on that render though. Windscreen rake is too steep and makes it a touch boxy.

Just spotted this driving around Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles. For the life of me I couldn't tell if I was looking at an X3M, an X3 with fake quad tips to throw off spy shots, or a new X1M thing (it's surprisingly small in person). The narrow body arches with the quad tips is a bizarre look on a BMW
