This is definitely a Covid era design with concerns for availability of materials and deletions from current line production at the time. I think a decision was made to go "cheaper" on the interior with a "less is better" mantra due to uncertainty. Unfortunately, it does show here. Even the leatherette is a step down from current while they at least offer merino leather. Cloth dash will get dirty and difficult to clean. Thumbs down on that option.

The front and rear exterior profile look ok but need to confirm in person. The side profile is definitely less appealing with the back end looking more Honda CRVish (previous generation) with a bit of minivan roundedness.

Also notice that engine horsepower is actually down at 375 vs 382 (3rd generation) as the electric assist is just that, temporary and based on certain battery charge level. That means the engine itself produces less hp. The torque figures are up a bit.

I saw one at the Porsche Experience Centre Le Mans during the race last weekend and it looked good (barring the colour they chose).

Agree, it does look a bit feminine/curvy though.

But this just looks like the full glass roof. It appears it has a shade that opens and closes, but the glass itself has no seam to open and close. Unless the image is wrong.

Man what a shitty looking interior. Feels so cheap. What a joke. Tried all builds, still looks awful.

What the hell was BMW thinking?

There is only a fixed roof. It can not be opened like in the current generation

That’s on the two series. It’s fine, no trouble whatsoever. I suppose it adds a tiny more to less drag?

Overall it's ok. Not great, interior is a bit too sterile, but I think it will still sell well and be best in class. I'd like to see an M model.

The G45 M50 shown on the UK configurator is the equivalent of G01 M40, rather than the G01 M3 Comp.

There is no longer an M Sport seat option on the M50, and it’s not a true M car.

We hear this every time a new model is launched. Not even funny anymore.

I don't understand what they were thinking with this. What other car is offered WITHOUT a sunroof that opens?

The G02 hits the sweet spot perfectly: the grill is just the right size, and the interior strikes a balance between physical buttons and modern tech with a touch screen. Of course this G45 has more power and smarter tech but I honestly just love the look of the G02, both inside and out.

Lots of vehicles have this now. I think it started with Tesla and annoying other manufacturers follow them off the cliff like lemmings. My Mach-E has a full glass roof that doesn't open and has no built in shade. Now that it's in the 90s every day, it's hot as hell in the car.

I would pay extra for solid roof without any glass or openings like m3 cf roof … would never buy a car with only glass roof on top without solid cloth cover in the cabin

Well, for starters, the new X2 has a sunroof that doesn't open.

I mean, you can always touch the area with other parts of your hand.
This design seems clear that it is designed for you to use back of your hand to lock.

Its a change, but once you get the hang of it I think it will be less hassel than to use your thumb.

The G45 has a powered shade for the glass roof. So that aspect is taken care of, at least.

the thing is why not leave it alone when the pull handle works perfectly in all weather including high winds and it never slips out of your hand
