I bet I qualify for a lot of things does it mean I will take it? No, so stop saying just cus you qualify, why not use it.
haha, you first prove you dont know United States geography and now you speak like an idiot saying fuck every 2 seconds.

sorry for the profanity. and your right i blow at geography. i don't even know my 7 continents lol.

but my point is, the thread was just a simple question i asked which was about financial aid, and had nothing to deal with my personal life. i qualify for FA so i am on it.

im tired of arguing with you now. you and i are completely different in different situations. as you stated before are worried about getting a job after college, paying for it, etc. me on the otherhand got other worries and other plans i have.

so lets call it truths and leave it at that.

and college i got in with a 1830 sat and a 3.4gpa currently doing business major.

Most schools still only look at the score out of 1600 and the ones that do use writing don't focus on it that heavily. So in practice it still is out of 1600 and still a terrible measure of ability that's way too easy. You shouldn't have as many people as you do getting in the 1500-1600 range, makes it damn near impossible for top schools to differentiate. The SAT II's are just as bad.

Agreed. It's a terrible system, hence the Cali universities are not really using it, and more universities will began to weigh it less.

FWIW I got above a 15xx on the 1600 scale, and above a 22xx on the 2400 scale, but didn't get into any of my top choice schools even with a 3.8 GPA.

I don't think there's a salary cap for FA. I've heard of people whose parents make in excess of 6 figures getting on FA. Sometimes it depends on how much their parents are willing to pay for their education. You could have parents that are millionaires, but if they don't want to pay for your college education, you kind of have no choice but to get FA. It sounds crappy, but it happens.

FA is government assistance sort of like welfare.. And it does have a salary cap(in my state its $25k a year), like I said I know a few people on it and its sad since right now for the past few weeks they haven't been able to work or they will earn too much and not qualify for it but of course they cant earn enough to go without it, so they have to go into debt this time of year until the year is over.

+1, it is for those who truly need it. Not those who want it to make it easier on themselves. Especially if they can afford it in the long run.

I'll only do it if i truly have to, not to mention the fact you have to watch what you sign, the government is an evil thing at times.

The average income in 2006 for a household was $48,201 and thats form the US census. The average income per person was about $26k. Some states averages are higher and some are lower. but thats the overall..

I laugh at people in college who think they are going to earn $70k their first year on the job...

did those average people go to college? Last year I heard this girl talk about what she was going to make her first year out of college and it was $30 per hour(little more I think). That isn't unheard of. In NYC you should make at least that and if u can't rent a place on your own some companies will help you. It depends on where you will be working and what school/degree you have. NY is very expensive for someone just out of school. A bottle is like $300 and with 3 people you have to buy 2...

Agreed. Salaries don't solely determine how well your financial situation is, a big part is where you live and the cost of living. If you lived in NYC where 1500 a month gets you a room the size of a closet in Manhattan, you could make 100k a year and still be barely in the lower middle class.

This part is a little OT, but as for going out on the town in NYC, stay near the meat-packing district if you want to drink for cheap, or goto Park, which is one of I think 2 or 3 places in NY w/o cover. =P If you want to go to Marquise, be prepared to spend at least $500 per person to get a table.

those are jo's that waste their money on booze. I would rather stand but if I had like 10- 20 million or was making like 10k cash a week then maybe but I don't really drink so to spend 300 to have one drink isn't cool unless it is once in a while flush with cash, maybe "networking", trying to pick up models, college chicks, ect. car salesman can make 70-80 in their first year but that is not the norm. if u sold 2 mortgages a month that is like 6 -10k right there. and this is ot so... http://www.businessweek.com/careers/...ompanies_4.htm http://msn.careerbuilder.com/custom/..._advice&catid= + bonuses I assume for ny
