Well seeing as the G6 car had recently come out and was popular amongst younger and "rap oriented" crowds, yes, I figured the car was the subject of the song. Not some private jet that I had no idea about while I was still in high school...

The mere fact that they did not have large brakes, independent suspension and were under powered in general versus weight contributed to your comment. You could build them with these purties (not until the 2000's tho) but that took them out of the stock realm. I guess this would have to be another Top Gear (US) show.

For instance this one is still stuck in my head. I was driving to the beach with a few friends in some year one some almost straight road somewhere back in the late 80s and i must have been doing (like an idiot) 100 in my 79 Z28 (mostly stock). When i hear a whirl of a high pitched engine coming up behind me so i floored it. Yeah baby, i hit about 130 i guess and then i saw this 2002 fly by me like i was sitting still. by the time the next sweeping curve came he was gone. Like as in "Gone in 60 seconds" gone. Very light weight, not a big motor but certainly had the power to get up and get out of the way. Now to qualify my comments. I do love a lot of those cars like the TA or the Z28, GTO, COBRA etc. but pound for pound stock for stock they simply were no match for even the BMWs of that day.
