There are a lot of person get bored of mt. You rarely see them on performance oriented car enthusiast forum, but you can find them on the street. All those people who used to drive MT in the old days and transfered to auto as soon as it was available.

I think you dont need to save for gt4. Try gts, it is just as good as gt4 unless you are serious tracker.

Not really...I sold my 991.1S for $8k more than I paid for it 2.5 years ago. Prices have held steady for 3 years now.

If you're doing DEs... depends what kind of person you are.

I find the statement of "but in real life, you re not racing on the road.. especially with double clutch transmissions life is more fun since it makes the car even faster comparing to manuals.." to be pretty false. I see very little correlation between "faster" and "more fun" on the street.

That said, I do think some (turbo) modern cars kind of need a fast transmissions-- manuals allow them to fall out of boost, which makes for an unpredictable (bad) driving experience. But, my solution for that is just to not buy any turbo cars

its taste of life thing.. im renting some time to time an E36 M3 drift car in Kiev to drift on track..that car has to be manual.. cause drifting and the general feeling needs a manual.. on track for lap times i rather have a fast transmission like Porsche's PDK.. allows me aggressive downshifts.. and as i said for cars like E46 M3, S2000 few more i rather have manual on every occasion.. but on road.. the whale im driving daily lately i cant even imagine how annoying to have a manual on X6M.. and i never thought i ll advocate auto transmissions to U.S that most of the citizens havent even seen a manual car..

and PS: its not that complicated.. if the car is naturally aspirated and revs high.. manual is more fun..

I agree. I don't think I could find my car ('13C2S CPO) for what I paid for it almost two years ago.

So I drove my brother to pick up his 2016 Renault Megane RS Cup the other day and I might just have to go ahead and buy my own RS.
It's rather spectacular to drive to be honest, more so than my manual m2 f87 was I'm afraid.

It had some mods: lowered, downpipe, intercooler, tune, racing pads, oz wheels with cup2s and it was bloody brilliant! The recaro sportster seats are epic aswell.

What I liked most was the chassi and the gearbox, especially the gearbox was lightyears ahead of BMW's.

There is a similary modified megane rs for a bargain price for sale at the moment, might have to buy it.

Anyone got a better idea???

Since you're not scared of the Megane's looks, I'd recommend a Civic Type R. Like you, I enjoy lighter, more focused cars than the better balanced and more polished M2. But man, the CTR is just too ugly to get my money. Great car to drive though.

I love the looks of the Megane actually, apart from the rear maybe, abit odd!
I don't think I can stand the Civic looks tho.

The universe is messing with me at the moment, there just popped up a 2015 Megane Trophy-R for 295 000:- SEK. For reference my brothers 16 RS Cup costed him 223 000:-, which makes the Trophy-R kinda a bargain.

This could be the chance to pick up a car I honestly love and it's a track-ready car from the factory! It will hold it's value very well since there are only 250 made and only 3 or 4 came to Sweden, what an opportuniy! I'm thrilled.

Alternatively, how about someone's pre-modified R32/R33 Nissan GTS-T. I'm betting you'll be able to sell it in a few years for the same as you bought it .. it's fast, manual - as practical as you can get for a 2-door coupe, and (unlike if you'd stepped straight out of a current model BMW), after spending time in a 90's era Nissan that Porsche interior is going to feel luxurious.

Problem solved! Found a m3 e46(my lost love) manual in steel grey that is absolutley fantastic! Reinforced subframe mounts, new bushings all around, and alot of other good things. Hopefully, like my previous m3 e46, I Will be able to drive it for 5 years and make a small profit or +/-0!

The Megane RS is a super capable car. I had one before my current M3. The Meganes are fixtures at local trackdays and they turn in very respectable times. The fastest M3 here on semislicks is only 2-3s faster than the fastest Megane on a 2.5 minute course despite the M3 having more power and costing more.

I bet you drive way quicker in a standard Megane RS vs. a standard M3 e46, they are very easy to drive quickly and makes a nice sound aswell!

The M3 e46 is very fun to work with and you can do alooooot with it! Expensive but fun I guess.

Car is now sold and one obviously needs a car! Since Cayman GT4 is the absolute dream and I have a fantastic chance to save up some cash I would like a kind of hothatch in the 5-10k bracket.

2004 Volvo s60r auto
2002 Bmw m3 e46 mt
2007 Saab 9-3 v6 auto

My girlfriend just bought out our lease which is a 2016 Volvo v40 t5 carbon edition, a sort of golf gti rival with decent power and a decent gearbox, it gives me more joy than my m2 ever did, so could also jump into something like the Golf gti Clubsport.

Something practical, fast, manual or dualclutch/fast auto, can be driven wintertime, would like your help guys! All experiences are welcome, what else could I get?

Doubt that's true. You probably just feel that because the GT4 is so much more stimulating to drive in other ways!
