Hey unless I start naming names I am not “dissing”. Don’t misinterpret a strong opinion from an insult.

Gloss or satin gunmetal on everything. I prefer a light titanium gunmetal vs darker anthracite. Silver is too light for me.

Matte black is for primer.

I’m in my 60’s, dark wheel guy here because dark wheels sure make life easy with brake dust!

I used to love the black wheels on my car but one of my friends told me that it looks odd from afar. Right now, I am a fan of two-tone wheels and a lighter color. HD wheels have some of the most playful and stylish rims that I've seen online.

I'm starting to see a trend here. If you're >45 yrs old you like dark wheels.

Well, I just ordered dark anthracite metallic and I'm 46, so you may be on to something.

I'm in the "depends on the color of the car" camp. I don't love the "murdered out" black on black on black look, personally.

White cars look good with almost any color wheel.

I'm a Subaru guy at heart, so every time I see a blue car I want to put gold wheels on it.

I think these are a good compromise...dark enough to cover some dust, but light enough to complement the car.

It really depends on exterior color. All black is really cool but silver is good too.

It really depends, both can look nice, generally I like contrast with the paint.
Don't particularly dig the murdered out look though.

Some nice polished lips can change everything.

Black wheels look terrible, IMO. They completely take away the look, contrast, depth, styling, etc. of the wheel. Gloss black makes this effect even worse. Additionally, from a distance, black wheels make the car look like it is riding on black steel wheels. Worse yet, black wheels make the wheel look MUCH smaller because it's difficult to see where the wheel ends, the wheel offset looks less aggressive, and the black wheel brings out the brown in tires. It just looks cheap and really takes away from the look of the car.

Darker liquid silvers, medium anthracites, and machined spoke faces with a mild dark paint clear coat and gloss black paint accenting on the interior edges of the spoke and rims (think most late model M wheels) look the best, IMO.

Big brakes are what I like to see on cars. Giant alloy wheels with drum brakes or dinky little discs are the worst looking thing ever.

When the wheel, whether silver or black, lets the brake be seen, and it's a good sized stopper, it looks good IMO. If your black wheels look like steel cop-car wheels, it's probably because you got dinky little brakes that can't be seen.

It depends on the car, and the color scheme of the exterior. Some dark cars look good with silver or bright wheels, some dark cars look good with darker wheels (gunmetal), and some even look good with black wheels. I need to see the car in its totality, and the color scheme, to see how everything works together. Hec, some chrome wheels still look good when done right, matching other elements of the car.

Light, dark... No right or wrong answer for me. It depends on the car and the design scheme.

Today's my 25th birthday and I've never preferred dark wheels. Especially dislike the blacked-out trend; some gunmetal/charcoal shades can be nice but you can't go wrong with a brushed aluminum or bright silver wheel IMO.
