Looks great. I can't wait to see the M version with this design.

I particularly love the way you can place widgets on the display that spans the length of the windshield and then arrange those. I do like the interior fairly well and I know it’s green to use renewable materials. But, I would still like to see leather options. Animals will always be slaughtered, and those with fine skins can still be made into pet food.

Once the quad motor M car is announced, I will hopefully be able to put a deposit on one.

The XM is hybrid.

The iX was a rushed mess imo but is a larger vehicle. I do wonder how the i4 in particular will be handled once this NK is produced.

Will be interesting to see the price point.

I wish they would take the money they spend on these release videos which show the vehicle 10% of the time and put it into design development.

I like what they’ve done with this and the Neue Klasse sedan - the gen 6 battery tech is going to be a big win here if the numbers hold up - BMW does a good job with hitting their range and charging estimates.

It looks like a refreshed iX. Overall I like it. I personally like the front of the sedan more than this X. I am not a fan of the shape of the kidney itself.

I noticed that there are no door handles, and the side mirrors look like they are just there to house a camera. Another thing I am not a fan of is the frameless doors. I have the iX and it does not sound good when you close the doors. Also, the lack of frames on the doors necessitates that you have an electronic open/close mechanism as opposed to the mechanism on current X models. Let's see how this evolves by the time it makes it to production.

Which are vague, unless I missed it. 20% improvement in range - of which model, or across the board? 30% improvement in efficiency - again, on which basis? It would be more honest to say hard facts of each model - X miles of range on an X kWh battery pack or they could say X mi / kWh.

This whole thing feels like an aspirational platform. Maybe they’re pushing the marketing so everyone doesn’t go buy an electric Macan or a new Model 3. The new Model Y is coming soon, too.

Pay attention at the back.

They already have multiple ICE SUVs, so why is this different.

XM is a hybrid, by the way.

I’ll compare this to the Macan and even without seeing either, it will have to work hard to beat the Macan.

From what I’ve read that’s based upon the energy density they’re seeing with their packs and extrapolating to real world use. Efficiency gains are also coming from weight savings and aero I would imagine. All these things don’t seem like leaps of faith but are logical incremental steps from where we are today from what I can see.

Range is itself an incredibly vague concept - we’ve been kicking that around on the G60 forum for several of us with i5’s - depending upon temperature and driving conditions reported “range” is varying from low 200’s to over 300 miles (I’m beating BMWs figures in the 270-280mile region after 3,500miles). So what actually is the range? “It depends”. BMW seems to do a better job of hitting real world range relative to Tesla.

If Neue Klasse can give me 20-30% boost in usable kWh and bump efficiency routinely over 4+ mi/kWh (like Lucid have done with their Air) then that will be a major step forward, but it’s all promises for now as you note.

I love the front.

Reminds me of all the BMW's I loved growing up.
The rest of the design is fine too.

Overall, I say this is a big win. I hope they use the same design elements of the front on their other cars too.

Like it but, no I drive controller, or buttons. 😡

Hi hate this trend to go button less, makes dividing and operation of controlls dangerous when driving.

Theres a reason we don't drive Teslas.

Nearly as bad as Audi putting touch sensitive button on their steering wheel, the thing you touch all the time. 🤷

IX3 Concept

Wow this is a great looking car. Good proportions and glad is going to be similar to the current IX3 size. Lot's of tech and one thing it reminds me from the large windows is the first edition of the Range Rover. So will have plenty of light. Hope the production version is not too different and glad it will be a four wheel drive.

There is a tease of the range on the dashboard, if you've seen the Top Gear or Autofughl videos. It says 600km which is about 375 miles, which is about 20% more than iX. (Which is underrated in typical BMW fashion, as I did 330miles+ with iX) iX3 will have a slightly smaller battery, so 30% seems to be in the ballpark.

Agree. Price should be lower, but the Macan is an attractive, classic design. I’ve read that the Macan 4 EV has 320 miles of range and that’s on a 100 kWh battery with net capacity 95 kWh. Compare that to the model Y dual motor: about the same range, 75 kWh battery, and $30k less fully loaded as compared to the base price of the Macan 4. If the Neue klasse X is anywhere near the Tesla based on their numbers it’s a slam dunk relatively. I can’t imagine spending $80-90k on a commuter car EV when I can spend half that for a Model Y or let’s approximate 2/3 that on the BMW.
