It is definitely either a BEV or a PHEV (due to the german license plate ending in 'E"), though my money is on the latter (which won't come to the US apparently) as I believe the BMW BEVs have their charging ports at the same place the ICEs put the gas? So the X3 30e.

I droopy side profile combined with the tall front beltline makes for an awkward design

not the m-sport version, right?!?! RIGHT!?!?! Let's wait to see the grand reveal of all in it's glory across all trim levels, then we judge. Doubts are settling in though...

As the stupid hashtags say (we still hashtag?): PHEV 30i. M-sport will look better. I bet my Yugo on it.

Are they gonna offer a panda theme wrap for this one? Looks ready to lead the Chinese delegation at the olympics.

I think it shows promise and will wait for the full reveal. They've put more visual mass on the lower portion of the body which makes the greenhouse look more compact. The rear quarters definitely have hips and the headlamps remind me of the 2er. I think there's come good proportions here. Also a fan of the classic X3 rear window design.

Really my only qualm is the grill. And I’m confident that won’t be present on the M50

Yeah, seems like one of those designs that everyone hates then sees it in person and it grows on them. I mean they are doing something right if they keep selling cars.
