I don’t about you guys but BMW is going to sell boat load of these.
Nothing in the Mercedes-Benz/Audi lineup comes close to how modern this looks despite losing some of it’s BMW designs (angel eyes, muscular flame surfacing). I’m curious how the X3M is going to look. |

Despite my misgivings on the aesthetics and it being a PHEV, my wife (the intended driver) loves it. Will be getting an AWD 4-cyclinder X3 in the fall.

Mild hybrid, not plug-in. I rented an X5 with the mild hybrid I-6 and it makes the auto stop-start more bearable since you can't turn the system off, plus fills in the low end torque and increases gas mileage. I got 31 mpg over 2800 miles driving 80+ mph through the desert and mountains of AZ, UT, CO, and NM.

I'm also considering X5 (both 50e PHEV and M60i). I really like the new LCI design on X5, especially with the M-sport pkg.
However, both X5 will cost between $80k~$95 with minimum options while G45 X3 M50 starts around $65k. G45 X3 M50 already comes with many standard features, including Adaptive M suspension, M sport diff, M sport body kit, so I'm sure I can buy one for slightly above $65k as I'm not planning to add any options. I don't think you'll find another "one car for all" at $65k that can do 0-60 low 4 sec, ~30mpg on Hwy, ~67 cu-ft max cargo space, mild offroad capability and handles like a BMW. That's why I'm willing to look pass the bit underwhelmed new X3 styling. Also as much as new LCI X5 looks nice, current G05 chassis and style are bit getting old as it was first came out in 2019 (5 years ago). Not sure if I'm willing to pay that much money for 5 years old design. |

I will keep my M40i and get another BMW, really don’t like the front end and the interior, it’s not the kind of design that BMW should have, more like a toy car.

I think we’ll grow into it, but I really don’t like the side profile from the stills. Looks just kinda cheaply made. Know it was intentional with the more simple monolith style, but doesn’t look righ.
But I suspect once we see a bunch of these on the streets in better colors we won’t think it is so bad. Have zero regrets on going with the X5 though. |

It’s a frustrating time for long time BMW petrol heads. BMW still manufacture these incredible engines as the B58 and the S68 and they could have chosen to be the value option for Porsche level car enthusiasts, However they went the total opposite direction and developed higher end options for the generic mass buyer. Waste of engine technology and supremacy IMO but likely a financial bulls eye.
No longer my type of car company but I’m pretty sure they won’t miss me and the G45 will do just fine-great. |

It’s saddening that BMW did such a bad job with what is arguably the last ICE X3 with 6 cylinders.
It just removes another potential option before we are left with no new ICE sales following the proposed ban here. It’s not a design that will grow on me, no matter how I try to justify it, it’s just bad, and a premium for a “cheapened” product. Last edited by avi66; 06-26-2024 at 06:07 AM.. |

It looks like a run-of-the-mill mass market Japanese car! If they want easy adoption from the likes of Acura, Mazda, Toyota, etc. buyers, then they've created the perfect entry vehicle for German luxury! Problem is, the X1 is supposed to be that car and it looks better than the G45!
