Your argument is akin to saying alcohol was cheaper durring the prohibition era because it wasn't taxed. I can hardly believe black market prices will be better in the long run.

Y'know... people who buy from clinics already pay tax on their weed. The canibus clubs are already paying hefty taxes. That's actually the reason why so many of them exist. If they wern't paying taxes, who WOULDN'T shut them down? Most notable example is Oaksterdamn. They may sell weed, but they're a legitimate business; heck, they even teach other how to do it the right way.

I expect most people in Cali who buy weed, buy it from someone who has a medical card and buys it at the clinic. So street prices are very similar to club prices. Furthermore, street or clinic, they get it from the same sources (growers). A lot of street dealers pick up from canibus clinics. Medical card allowed to buy like 3oz a day IIRC, and if they go to a shady clinic, they can probably buy pounds.

I'll admit, because street dealers don't pay taxes, they can probably sell for less than the clinic, but if you compare prices apples to apples (not even sure how that can be done... but say comparing similar quality goods) pricing is surprisingly similar. Good side about clinics is that they have a greater selection than individual dealers(who usually only has 1-2 strains), so you can always get high quality stuff; albet at a premium. But at the same time, clinics always have cheap stuff too.

Do you have a medical card? Not trying to downtalk/discredit you but it really doesn't sound like you have one or know anyone close that has one. I know plenty who do have their cards. If weed were legalized, I believe in a few short years, street dealers will be near completely obsolete. Even if I'm wrong, the only thing that can happen is lower prices for the consumer. Think about it, if there are still street dealers when weed is legal, they must sell at a good discount to intice anyone to buy from them illegally instead of walking into a store and getting it legally. In that scenario, it wouldn't be so different than today now would it? There can be only WIN if weed is legal. Overall I can only expect price to drop.

I remember seeing a commercial the other day for a program on dateline NBC about profiting from weed. Need to watch that (not sure if it aired yet).

Edit: BTW, sorry for the long post, didn't mean to write an essay.

You are correct sir.

I've never smoked and don't plan on smoking in the future but I'd still like to see weed legalized. Grow it for industrial purposes if nothing else.

with our economic standpoint legalizing weed would make lots of sense. the government can make so much tax money if they do actually legalize it, not to mention how fucking awesome it would be.
