That doesn't make any sense, that is, unless you dreamed the movie, and Bruce Nolan made you think the idea for the movie was yours.

I've done this before, but not necessarily "all the way" in the sense that I did it on purpose like some people can. I more just became aware I was in the dream rather than controlling it. Pretty wild nonetheless. I did notice that I hadn't really felt like I slept very much, though
Either way, put me in the "he's still dreaming" camp. 1.) What are the chances his kids will be playing in the yard looking away from him, just as his last memory of them, when he comes home in real life? Rather I saw it as him "starting" his "new reality" where he left off. He left his wife because he knew her IRL too well, he could tell she was just a fabrication. His kids however were blank slates - their dream would be more convincing if that makes any sense 2.) While it could just be some cinematic tool or something, I remember distinctly the top toppled a lot faster in the hotel. 3.) Waking up on the airplane: Fisher looks completely normal (as someone else posted, his reaction was kind of unbelievable), Leo and Saito, who had apparently missed the kick, where both up, Caprio looked bewildered but Saito immediately makes a phone call. By all counts of what was said, they should both be in a very lost mental state - to me this seems like Leo's answer to the "how did you get here" question he always uses to prove to people they're in dreams. By starting his dream life in one based in reality, he can answer that question and trick himself. For all we know what really happened is both Saito and Leo are dream melons, Saito couldn't make his phone call, and Leo's off dreaming in jail somewhere. |

awesome movie - I don't know why you guys are all hung up on the age of his kids, we don't know how long he has been gone since he last saw them, unless I completely missed that part of the movie. Scorsese used to be my favorite director, but now it is definitely a tie between him and Nolan.

The age tipped it off for me, but it's more generally the similarity between what he remembers and what "happens" (can't comment on small details, but as radix mentioned the position, clothing, and age are all very similar if not the same to his memory)

Finally saw it tonight, got it online and haven't had time to watch it because I wanted to pay attention
Bunch of good guesses in here, I definitely noticed his reaction or lack there of on the plane, made me wonder why since he was just tricked. And if he had just been tricked he would of flipped out, possibly not go through with the whole split the company up. Good movie, but I didn't know Nolan did it and I said during the movie it looked like Dark Night, same characters, same music etc...

The children actually are older. They're not even the same actors (you can check this in the credits, too) and are also wearing different clothes. Nolan dressed them very similarly (plaid shirt, etc) but if you watch closely you can tell. |

I liked Shutter Island better, and also agree that Page was not a very good choice for her role.

it's not REM sleep, so it sort of counts more as dozing. I never had a bad nightmare though, since you are aware you are dreaming, nightmares for me are more along the lines of dreams that you think are actually happening, lucid dreaming is the opposite, awareness that the dream is a dream
