Your cornea makes up 2/3rds of the refracting power of your eye with your lens making up the other 1/3rd. Your refractive error usually comes from both your lens and your cornea. Your lens is always growing and changing as you age so eventually most people need glasses. Many people also need glasses for other reasons such as presbyopia, which is when the lens in your eye is no longer able to create enough power to see near objects. So while the change to your cornea is permanent, it doesn't mean that it will always correct your refractive error as it may change throughout life.
