I raced the Flash once and he was going almost the speed of light but I smoked him with my Procede 335. 335 rules everything!!!!

Sorry I couldn't resist....

The other day, I was cruising at ~150mph for 20 miles or whatever the distance from the A6/A7 interchange to the Bad Windsheim exit. I was chasing a VW Tourag which has a higher governor because he was pulling away from me on the straights, I made up distance by carrying my speed into the turns and I never saw the needle go past 150mph, downhill, uphill, level, doesn't matter. Now, you caused me to dig up my old 330 catalog and guess what? It states the car is governed at 149mph for the 330i and 150mph for the 330xi. Your adrenaline was running high which caused you to become delusional, by all the evidence I have seen, the car is governed at 150mph. But I will do one more experiment just for you, I will set my speed warning function in Idrive to 155mph and replicate your run. I'll post the results after the next time I have to hit the Autobahn, which may be tomorrow if I feel the itch to drive up to Wurzburg.
n1smo I'm with you in theory...but M Coupe is supposed to be governed at 155 as well. Some times it just doesn't kick on when it's supposed to. (Pic is courtesy of me breaking in the car on A63 between Mainz and Kaiserslautern )

Everytime I had enough space. I'm thinking it wasn't set properly at the factory. The worst is when it kicks in and the engine just loses power. A7 is also a great drive. Enjoy it while you can. I miss it.

couple of years out of college - pegged the speedo (120+) in my '93 civic, less than one week after completing my first motor changeover.
going south on i-75, south out of atlanta, past midnight.
only other car on the road (apparently) was a state trooper.

felt like 200 mph.
stupid, stupid, stupid.

result was a rather hefty fine & lecture, but no visit to the pokey.

The needle would not go past 150mph (tried for ~5 miles). So, unless you think you have a special e90 330i that is able to go above the top speed listed by BMW, you were seeing things.

n1smo, I also verified BMW manual and it states top speed at 150mph, but I do know that the speedo needle went past 150. There were posts on here how the BMW speedo over exaggerates by a few MPH. Do you think its possible that the needle showed 155, but in reality it was going 149-150? Obviously you spent a lot more time on the autobahn and at high speeds than I ever would. Could there be slight differences between the 335 and 330, Euro vs US spec?

Now the military/CIA guys can chime in. Curious to see if any old A-12 drivers are out there.
Not a driver but I worked on the SR for a couple years until the final shut down in 1998. I think there top was 2200 Mph.

I've had my Evo up to 145mph once or twice. The fastest I've ever driven was around Fontana with the driving school I used to work for testing some new wing setups. I averaged something like 218mph.

I've been 175 mph in a 00' GTS Viper and 175 in a 00' Yamaha R1 (both indicated speed.. I'm sure it was lower by a big error margin)

" Developed for the USAF as reconnaissance aircraft more than 30 years ago, SR-71s are still the world's fastest and highest-flying production aircraft.
