Exactly 25% of my income goes to car payments, insurance, and gas. When I'm done with my student loans though I'm going to fork over 65% of my income to finish paying the car off early.

I pay about 50% of my net income. I'm also paying about 3x my minimum payment just to get the car payed off faster. At the same time my only bills are insurance and since the car is in storage my insurance is next to nothing. I don't spend money on much of anything either so 40% of my net goes to savings and even before then more is in allotments to savings and IRAs.

car + insurance + gas (~20k miles/year avg : ( ) = ~25%
That is based on my normal monthly salary. I make a lot in overtime and have other side gigs but obviously you have to budget for worst case scenario (As long as i don't lose my job). |

when I bought my car it was 25%. 5 months later the company I worked for moved to the midwest and everyone lost their job. The car is paid off now but if I was still making that same payment today it would be around 5% of my monthly .

What other things you got for me? Umm, I work part time at a grocery store, but may quit and let my parents pay for everything. On a more serious note, 4% of my salary goes towards cars. There are enough other things that I need to pay for more like housing investments, retirement, etc. though a large portion of my money is being reinvested in my business so I can continue to expand at the moment. |

My cars are all paid for but my rule of thumb is that I won't spend more than $35K on a car which is about a quarter of my yearly gross. I pretty much never buy brand new cars.

I paid for his purchase once when we were shopping while he was still in the dressing room. He actually got upset that I did that. ![]() Last edited by Sara; 06-05-2013 at 11:44 AM.. |

i'd rather drive a nice car and live with parents than spend all my money at restaurants trying to feel rich one meal at a time (though i don't do either)
apparently people love to assume that though, smh water finds the easiest path down the mountain Last edited by amanda hor$t; 06-05-2013 at 01:37 PM.. |
