I've travelled a lot already. Couple places still left on my bucket list:
Cappadocia caves in Turkey and Machu Picchu, Peru.

Doesn't everyone go on holiday each year? I do Europe once or twice a year, and sprinkle in some US holidays in between.

I go a little crazy if I don't get to go on vacation at least once a year. My parents have a place on Cape Cod which is a nice escape but I need a true change to reset my unrelenting urge for world travel.

Machu Picchu is on my list as well. I had dreams in my youth, saw the pachamamas glowing brightly under a full moon. I scheduled a trip at one point, to coincide with the full moon, but my traveling partner bailed and I wimped.

Getting to the age now where even with the coca leaves, I might not survive the trek.

I did the Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu, if that's what you're referring to. I'd recommend training with some cardio/leg workout for a month or 2 before going. It's not super difficult, but ~6k vertical up to 14k ft on day 2 is tough if you're carrying a pack. Worth it though.

I'm not sure I could get on the train and still hack it at 14K. I have trouble just hanging out at Vail, and thought I was gonna die when my cousin got married at the summit. I had to leave the party and get back down into the relative abundance of O2 back in town. So far, no amount of fluids keeps my normally borderline low BP at a reasonable level.

We took Diamox altitude sickness pills and drank fluids and were fine.

Yup, screamed and cried for an hour straight. Still hates the car. I'd say I fucked up the marketing.

We are going to NY end of January (yeah I know, but we got a free flight so gotta do what you gotta do). Any recommendations on things to do, eat, stay etc? Havent been there since I was a kid. Last couple of times we did a "city" vacation it has been to Boston (which I love).
