Yeah the South African one is about $50K converted directly from the official configurator, so expect around $42K in the US.

Base M235i with zero options = $44,000.

I think I did okay with my prediction.

I think my prediction was spot on.

Your prediction is still off, a well optioned M235i will not be $57k+. Go build a 135is, it will give you an idea with options. Fully optioned 135is is $53,630, plus the M235i has more standard equipment and msrp is $450 cheaper.

A fully optioned CLA45 is $68,715.

Mildly optioned CLA45 is still over $60k.

4 cylinder AMG ? I don't care how much power per liter or how many trubos it has. lacks in the sound department.

AMG kicks ass with there V8 engines, lets hope they make a turbo V8 for next C63!

AMG some how made a 4-cylinder sound really good. They really work magic with stock exhaust systems.

it doesn't sound BAD. its just for a benz i feel a louder 4 banger is not classy, sound more ricer.

again i get its not a bad car, and efficient. it just doesn't feel right in a modern day AMG.

Now that pricing is released. CLA45 doesn't look too enticing anymore. M235i offers up plently of performance for a lot less.

$53,500 fully loaded.

Right at $50,000 well optioned.

At least AMG isn't putting out AMGC250 AMG Edition like BMW, or pumping fake recorded engine noises into the cabin, or slapping the AMG badge and milking it like BMW is with M. I'm carefully looking at a Merc for my next car.

Plenty of performance isn't the same as all of the performance.

I expect the CLA45 AMG (and the A45 AMG, when it makes its way to the States, which I've heard it will), a full-blown AMG car, to out-accelerate, out-handle, and out-brake the M235i.

Which is why it costs more $$.

AMG really protects its brand, particularly here in the U.S.

There are no "AMG Sport" models or "AMG packages" here in the U.S. The worst offense you see is offering "AMG wheels" for just about every standard car in the Mercedes lineup.

I probably had more "///M logs" on my old M Sport F30 335i with M Performance parts than there will be on the new F80 M3.

That said, I am thoroughly impressed by the new F80 M3. Mercedes has about 1 year to respond with the 2015 C63, which could feature a 500 horsepower 4.0L biturbo V8 and a true DCT for the first time.

Looks like you were off on your M235i price prediction. About $7k off what you call a well optioned M235i.

The performance numbers look great for the CLA45, and pricing for that type of performance (4.2 sec out of the box) isn't bad. But for me cars always lean one way or the other, they either look better in person or they look worse in person.

For me the new C7 is much better looking in person, whereas the CLA does not. To me it is very stubby looking, basically a squished version of it's CLS brother. Totally subjective on my behalf though, but still the performance numbers look impressive.
