I became a member last year only to do 1 autocross while I was home. I'm stationed overseas so once I come back to the states it might be better use to me. Until then I enjoy the reading material, but the membership does nothing for me.

1. Are you a BMWCCA member currently? Yes
2. What is your regional club (if you don’t know just say don’t know)? I am a member of the Tejas Chapter (Central & South TX) 3. If you are not a member, what was the reason for not joining? N/A 4. Have you attended any meeting or event with any BMW chapter? I have attended nearly every event with Tejas Chapter for the past 6 years. 5. What are activities you would like to see the BMW chapters do in your area? We do driving events to destinations as well as some track activities. I would like to see some social and driving events local to either Austin or San Antonio areas, as most of our members are in one area or the other and it's not always convenient to drive 80-100 miles to attend an event in the "other" city. 6. What activities would you like to see on a national level? We already have the yearly Octoberfest which is held in different cities each year. 7. What type of programs would you like to see BMWCCA support? CCA already supports the BMW Foundation and the Street Survival driving schools for teenagers. 8. Do you want BMWCCA to find ways to help enthusiasts with acquiring parts for projects? BMW CCA's Roundel Magazine and its national website provide classified ads for cars as well as parts, particularly for hard-to-find items. 9. Open comment / suggestion. This is a great club, and members who participate in the events, both as attendees and planning/leading them, get a lot of enjoyment from the social aspect as well as the technical and driving parts. Some chapters tend to focus on track- or autocross-related events, and not everyone cares to participate in those activities, so diversifying the event schedule is something that should be looked into, with alternative social and driving events.

1. Are you a BMWCCA member currently? YES
2. What is your regional club (if you don’t know just say don’t know)? BAYOU CHAPTER (La) 4. Have you attended any meeting or event with any BMW chapter? NO 5. What are activities you would like to see the BMW chapters do in your area? MOST CHAPTER ACTIVITIES ARE 2+ HOURS AWAY (I live in MS) - SO HARDER TO ATTEND 6. What activities would you like to see on a national level? I AM QUITE HAPPY WITH BMWCCA AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL. 7. What type of programs would you like to see BMWCCA support? I DO LIKE THE SUPPORT BMWCCA GIVES TO YOUTH DRIVING PROGRAMS - KEEP THAT UP. MY DAUGHTER IS 13 AND WILL DEF BE DOING THE YOUTH DRIVING SCHOOL AT PDS in G-S, SC. WE (she and I) HAVE ALREADY VISITED THERE AND SHE IS FIRED UP. 8. Do you want BMWCCA to find ways to help enthusiasts with acquiring parts for projects? NO OPINION. 9. Open comment / suggestion. LOVE ROUNDEL. MIKE MILLER IS A TREMENDOUS ASSET TO BMW AND SHOULD BE REQUIRED READING (HE ALSO WRITES FOR BIMMER). CHECK HIM OUT IF YOU HAVEN"T ALREADY. REBATE PROGRAM ALONE IS ENOUGH TO JOIN - I HAVE USED IT TWICE. |

1. Are you a BMWCCA member currently?
Yes. Since 2006 2. What is your regional club (if you don’t know just say don’t know)? Windy City Chapter 3. If you are not a member, what was the reason for not joining? NA 4. Have you attended any meeting or event with any BMW chapter? Yes. Windy City too many to count. Badger and Buckeye HPDE events too. 5. What are activities you would like to see the BMW chapters do in your area? I'm all but HPDE events. I've done autocross many times but the track_time/total_time ratio is so low I lost interest. 6. What activities would you like to see on a national level? I have gone to many BMWCCA Octoberfests. I skipped this year as it was in CA. Too far. I would like to see more HPDEs. I think BMWCCA should consider some regional HPDEs. The local chapters are having a hard time making ends meet and having some events for multiple chapters in an area instead of each chapter trying to host them might be worth a look. 7. What type of programs would you like to see BMWCCA support? Continue the discount parts program - a must for any enthusiast. Continue the new car rebate program. 8. Do you want BMWCCA to find ways to help enthusiasts with acquiring parts for projects? Not sure I understand. 9. Open comment / suggestion. I spent quite a bit of time with the windy city chapter pres. at the last HPDE event. She indicated that all the clubs are having a hard time making ends meet. She indicated that almost 60+% of BMWs are now leased so attendance is down. Leasees don't want to modify or risk their cars at the tracks. As suggested I think the BMWCCA should consider some regional events and some coordination of schedules. This would help make sure that HPDE events are full. |

DIY 8. no, we're well served already by BMW parts specialists 9. love, love, love Roundel especially Tech Talk by Mike Miller. I'm not a rich guy so have to do as much as I can myself hence always interested in DIY. Bav Auto in Portsmouth NH serves me so very well. |

I've been a member since '06, also joined for the rebate, and have received them on 2 cars now, including my Z4MC. I stick around in case I ever buy another new one (seems more and more unlikely as the brand evolves, unfortunately) and because I LOVE Roundel, it's by far my favorite (and most useful) car rag. Worth the annual membership cost IMHO.

1. Are you a BMWCCA member currently? No
2. What is your regional club (if you don’t know just say don’t know)? Tarheel BMWCCA 3. If you are not a member, what was the reason for not joining? Cost/benefit. I planned to a few years ago, but they cut out Roadside Assistance and thus one of the major perks I was looking for (even though I've never used it). 4. Have you attended any meeting or event with any BMW chapter? Yes 5. What are activities you would like to see the BMW chapters do in your area? Meets, HPDE 6. What activities would you like to see on a national level? Mod and maintenance meets. 7. What type of programs would you like to see BMWCCA support? Roadside included or at reduced cost. 8. Do you want BMWCCA to find ways to help enthusiasts with acquiring parts for projects? Are they hard to come by now? 9. Open comment / suggestion. Honestly the cancellation of the Roadside Assistance program was a big letdown for me. I know they brought it back through a third party, with all kinds of limitations, etc. But that discourages a lot of people from joining when they can get another service (AAA, etc) for less money. I can get the same benefits by using my own roadside, these forums, and Cars N Coffee than I can get with CCA, at half the cost? That's a hard sell if you ask me. I mean, it's cheaper to join BMWCCA and get AAA than it is to buy roadside through your CCA membership? That's just not competitive. It's disappointing, too, because the local owners I've met are a fun and enthusiastic group. The owners of older BMWs and track cars are an especially interesting bunch. I spoke to quite a few of them at the local dealer g2g 4-5 years ago and they were great people who owned great cars.

1. Are you a BMWCCA member currently?
Yes 2. What is your regional club (if you don’t know just say don’t know)? NJ 3. If you are not a member, what was the reason for not joining? 4. Have you attended any meeting or event with any BMW chapter? Yes - a few monthly meetings and a few HPDEs so far. 5. What are activities you would like to see the BMW chapters do in your area? DIY instructional clinics would be incredible. Even if it were the just 2 or 3 next most commonly needed after how to change oil, such as how to change brake pads and flush fluids, etc etc. not looking to be taught how to change bearings or looking to take major biz away from INdys or dealerships here. 6. What activities would you like to see on a national level? Seems like these are pretty good as it is. 7. What type of programs would you like to see BMWCCA support? street survival is great, perhaps expanding this, something that fills the gap between basic defensive driving and an HPDE. perhaps street survival for adults? 8. Do you want BMWCCA to find ways to help enthusiasts with acquiring parts for projects? that never hurts 9. Open comment / suggestion.[/QUOTE] overall the club is good - Roundel is awesome, and I think the members of my local chapter and DelVal are all fantastic people from what I have experienced at HPDEs. If I didn't work 80 hrs a week I would be able to attend more meetings and dedicate more time helping the chapter.

What are activities you would like to see the BMW chapters do in your area? Local drives, get involved with Santa Barbara Cars and Coffee. Santa Barbara has some of the nicest roads in CA and it would be great to have some like minded enthusiast to go drive with (NOT RACE). 6. What activities would you like to see on a national level? 7. What type of programs would you like to see BMWCCA support? 8. Thank you all that have answered the thread so far. I am going to let the threads run until Nov 8th before I start to compile the data.
I wanted to address some of the people who chime in with their post whish could be summed up as the “the club is what you make of it”. The point of me doing this was to make the first step to help BMWCCA / chapters change to be in line with the majority of the enthusiast crowd. By no means will things change overnight as that requires more steps but you can’t get there without taking the first one. The replies many of you posted are excellent ideas and in line with what I first suggested to National in May of this year. Last thing I wanted to address is those who posted on some the different forums that are arguing with me about making these threads. I took on this project on my own with the blessing of National because I am an enthusiast like most of you. I also have a unique perspective as I stated a national club run by volunteers that faces the same issues as BMW. I am not getting anything for my time and energy and I chose to use the forums VS. a survey tool so that people could see others replies and comment. So if you feel that me taking my own time and energy to benefit us the BMW enthusiast’s community is something to argue over then I don’t know what to say other than, at least I did something then sit on my hands. Thank you all again for posting and please let others know to chime in so I can present this to National. After Friday I will compile all the replies and post a summary to all the forums with what others have said / suggested.

1. Are you a BMWCCA member currently? Yes. Yes, I am 2. What is your regional club (if you don’t know just say don’t know)? New Jersey Chapter 4. Have you attended any meeting or event with any BMW chapter? Yes, meetings and events with the most recently the Road & Track Magazine's #UN4GETTABLE Event for the 4-Series debut. 5. What are activities you would like to see the BMW chapters do in your area? I would actually like to see them collaborate with other clubs as well. Also, have more events on Sundays for the people who work every Saturday! 6. What activities would you like to see on a national level? Organize a meet at BMW NA at Woodcliff Lakes. I am fortunate enough that I work for BMW and also live in NJ but for the other chapters not close, I think it would great for them to get a chance to visit and take a tour. 7. What type of programs would you like to see BMWCCA support? N/A 8. Do you want BMWCCA to find ways to help enthusiasts with acquiring parts for projects? N/A 9. Open comment / suggestion. For a measly $48 per year to sign up, just the Roundel Magazine you get is worth it alone. I have made 20+ new friends/enthusiasts from joining. I disagree completely - your definition of "enthusiast cars" differs from that of other members. But aside from that, what does the fact that BMW no longer builds E30s have to do with anything? Nobody in my chapter considers that an "issue", as we have quite a cross-section of models, all of which their owners consider to be their vision of an "enthusiast car". That's the common thread.
