The Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) turned down the so-called Advanced Clean Cars program after receiving overwhelming opposition from stakeholders and citizens. The proposed program would have closely mirrored regulations approved in California, mandating that at least 51% of new car purchases in the state be electric by 2028 and 82% be electric by 2032.
"The Maine Board of Environmental Protection received nearly 1,800 comments from the people of Maine and nearly 84% were not in favor of this EV mandate,"
Critics of aggressive EV requirements warned that the Maine power grid is currently unequipped to handle the significantly increased demand and load that would be generated by widespread EV adoption. They also argued that power outages, triggered by storms like the December windstorm, could render large swaths of an electrified transportation sector useless.
According to the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, a group that represents major automakers, 5.8% of total car purchases in Maine last year were electric or plug-in hybrid.
Democratic Maine Gov. Janet Mills, who has pursued an aggressive climate agenda since taking office, did not respond to a request for comment at press time.

Slowly but surely it will spread.

Tesla Launches Cybertruck-Inspired CyberHammer
Behold, the CyberHammer. The electric automaker on Thursday said it will make 800 Cybertruck-inspired sledgehammers available through its referral program. Tesla said it would release the hammers in small batches, apparently so that customers with tons of credits don't snatch them all up in a day.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

You Could Get A New Chevy Bolt For $8,000 In California
Mar 24, 2024
As EVLife recently reported, Californians who meet specific income, residency, and vehicle ownership requirements can take advantage of a mix of state and federal incentives to nab a new Bolt EV for as low as $8,000 or an EUV for as low as $9,300.
Following the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, Chevrolet vehicles once again became eligible for the federal EV tax credit of $7,500. Thanks to the rollout of point-of-sale discounts, this can make the process even easier for buyers since they no longer wait until the next tax season to receive their rebates.
The combined power of these three programs allows some prospective buyers to drive home in a new Bolt EV at one-third of MSRP.

Watch out for the mad dash to the Chevrolet dealerships.

How Many Solar Panels Are Needed To Charge A Tesla?
03/24/2024
Many Tesla owners install a home charging station, which might cost more than they think, to keep their vehicles charged and ready to go every morning.
Most residential solar panels have a power output rating of 250 watts, but there are larger ones with a rating of up to 400 watts of power.
However, if you install 400-watt panels instead, you would only need seven. Of course, these equations have many variables because even one alteration changes everything.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/techn...2ebfecce&ei=10

400 Watt solar panel size 79″ X 39″ X 7 panels or 21,567 sq inches or 149.77 Sq Feet of 400 watt solar panel to charge your Tesla.
Assuming:
The sunlight intensity is 1000 W/mē
Wind velocity of 1 m/s
Cell temperature 25 degree Celsius
The air mass index is 1.5
The Right tilt of the solar panel is given based on the latitude of the location.
You can drive for free if you put panels on half your roof.

But what happens if I drive my Tesla to work? Does the PV panels charge a brace of batteries to charge the car's, ahem, battery?

That's exactly why anyone would buy one - to show off. Unfortunately, that thing looks retarded, and it's not impressing most people.

I used to have a diesel Jetta that can run very close to 1000 KM per fill up at the gas station with the air cond. on all the time plus no black smoke coming out from the pipe. This is what a call high efficiency engine
