The bottom line, form follows function. There are basic design characteristics inherent in many mid engine sports cars but as you displayed sakhir there are many differences and they hardly look all that much alike. It’s open to interpretation.
Can’t please everybody but I don’t think Corvette designers, engineers or buyers care. They’re going to sell tons of them for years and like the generations before them they will perform well against the best out there.

Spent yesterday day walking the Carlisle Fairgrounds. It's "Corvettes at Carlisle" weekend. The largest gathering of Corvettes (some 5000 show up) in the country. Chevrolet brought six of their C8's. My goodness, what a beautiful sports car. Like some vehicles, it looks better in person than it does in photos. Even that rear end that I wasn't sure of comes off pretty neat (with the exception of the exhaust tips). Think the C8 will be a landmark car.

Rumors were flying around for a while now and it’s looking like it’s going to happen. The C8 buzz is really something now but things are really going to get interesting for team Corvette in the next few years.
https://www.motortrend.com/news/c8-c...win-turbo-v-8/ Used to love going to the IMSA races at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen to hear the big bass roar on team Corvette going by and it won’t be the same but I’ll get used to the new music played by the C8R, especially when they take podiums.

A bit of speculation, I have read that people think the next Z06 will have this flat plane twin turbo engine, I don't think so, I think this high $$$ engine will be reserved for the ZR1.
I think then next Z06 will be another supercharged push rod engine. I was listening to a podcast and the host was told (off the record, at the Corvette launch event in LA) that the company that he worked for had finished developing a supercharger for the C8. It also makes sense to me, because GM seems to be trying to keep the price points in line with the previous generation, 'if you could afford a C6 Z06 you will be able to afford a C7 Z06' We shall see, GM brought a mid-engine car to market for a lower price then anyone thought possible, so they may be able to bring a new twin-turbo quad-cam flat plane engine too, but I would be surprised. |

I have no desire for a faster model. Is that weird? 500hp just seems like plenty :P

Anything in a vehicle this size and weight above 500hp becomes bragging rights.

We're pretty sure some high power model is coming because there were reports that there was enough power that it was twisting the frame and they had to go back and strengthen it. From the link below: "The base model C8 is off to a good start with 495 hp. However, we expect that power to go up significantly with the eventual debut of higher-trim models. 650 and 800 hp are figures we've heard most often for "mid-range" editions. At the top of the Corvette range, we could see a bonkers hybrid with over 1,000-hp driving all four wheels." So this is implying there's possibly 4 'levels' of performance coming for the C8, which might still mean supercharged V8 and a TT V8. https://www.motor1.com/news/258428/m...thing-we-know/ |
