The cars have...

- HALF the range or less of a typical ICE
- Are heavier.
- Way more expensive.
- Way more depreciation.
- Not completely understood fire risks and hazards.
- Are NOT more efficient than ICE when pulling from a grid that's only 35-40% efficient by itself.
- Cannot tow anything more than about 100 miles.
- Have huge secondary environmental impact that EV proponents like to ignore or pretend don't exist.
- Actually consume MORE energy than ICE due to being heavier, and overall net efficiency basically being a wash.
- Are NOT going to "save the planet."

But I just helped a family member buy a Tesla Model Y, because their specific life/circumstances were actually a good fit for one.

[QUOTE=SteVTEC;31067213
So how do they manage EV's up in Alaska? Heated garages? Okay with much shorter driving ranges, or not driving very far? Home charging? Staying plugged in at night to keep the battery warm? Sure, EV's can be adapted to "work" in cold weather, but compromises and management are involved.[/QUOTE]

Same thing with ICE vehicles here, there are compromises.

- They are not safe! Especially in comparison to the well-established horse-drawn carriages.
- There will be “car accidents” and the potential for injuries or fatalities! Ever hear of a horse crash? Didnt think so.
- They are noisy and emit pollutants, where horses are soothing and quieter.
- They would require significant investments in infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, which would be costly and disruptive. If I don’t drive on it, I shouldn’t have to pay for it!! MAG!!
- Everyone working in the horse and carriage industry, such as blacksmiths, carriage makers, and stable workers will immediately be fired and replaced with immigrant labor. From Ireland!!!
- Nothing competes with the refined elegance of horse husbandry; the sound of a naturally aspirated thoroughbred, surrounded by majestic nature! I’ll never give that up.
- As a rich businessman, am I supposed to hire a driver now ALSO? I already have a man for my horses and an excellent coach builder. Besides, theyre a failed design anyway.

Upstate New York Woman Killed in Tragic Amish Buggy Crash

A pick-up truck, driven by 31 year-old John Leathly of Chittenango, ran into the back of an Amish buggy on County Route 41 in the town of Richland, Oswego County on Sunday, June 6.

This isn't the first fatal Amish buggy crash in Upstate New York. One man was killed and another was injured in a fatal crash in Gouverneur, New York.

That's funny! (seriously! ) but EV's are hardly going to revolutionize personal transportation. The biggest difference they'll make is in whose pockets get lined, while opening up new avenues for government tyranny and control, and while we all get screwed.

Totally approved!

For similar reasons, I just helped an extended family member pickup a Model Y Long Range. It just happen to fit their lifestyle and driving needs quite well, the limitations and issues for the most part were a non-factor for them, and they got a killer deal on it with the price cuts and $5k extra on the hood. They're really enjoying it so far!

I've seen exactly one Kia EV6 GT on the road here a few months ago, which possibly could have been a test drive and not a purchase, but nothing since then. I think people are spooked by the low advertised range, but if that isn't a factor by all means enjoy. I'm sure it's a hoot to drive!

Just curious if you happen to know, but how many did they have sitting on the lot, and how long had they been sitting there for?

If you had any idea of what is required to own and maintain a horse, you'd realize how stupid the shit is you've been saying about the early push-back against the "horseless carriage".

We know more CO2 causes plants to thrive.

And we also know CO2 is only 0.04% of the earth's atmosphere and at 0.02% all life on earth dies.

Personally I think most have no clue what CO2 even is, yet they make it their life's mission to reduce it. Some might call those people "useful idiots" even.

It's not quite that simple, look up where most of the O2 comes from and how the ocean is connected to it all.

If you haven't got it yet you most likely never will.

96 percent of the earth’s species were extinguished at the close of the Permian period (252 million years ago -MYA). The extinction interval is fairly short (thousands of years) and recovery began within a few million years of extinction.

Figure 3 is a graph of the global carbon dioxide (CO2) and temperature curves for the last 600 MY. The end of Permian extinction occurred at the close of a long period of very low CO2 and temperature values during deep global cooling associated with an ice age.

During late Carboniferous and Permian time atmospheric content of CO2 hit rock bottom at less than 300 ppm. This was also a period of cyclical ice ages with global glaciation. Fig. 3 shows that during this period temperature, also, was at historic lows. The cold oceans sequestered additional CO2 from the atmosphere stressing all plants, marine and land, a tipping point was reached where the plants died, the food chain collapsed and 96% of earth’s species became extinct.

If we examine Fig. 3 closely, it is obvious that the current status of temperature and CO2 is very similar to the end of Permian time and the extinction event; therefore, we are vulnerable to the same demise.

Yes by all mean continue defining CO2 as the reason for climate change because it is. It is the reason you are still alive.
