You Can't Use Ferries in Greece if Your Electric Car Has More Than 40 Percent Battery
28 May 2024 A bizarre regulation recently adopted in Greece prevents electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles from boarding a ferry with a full battery. Even half the battery charge is too much, so you better make sure to have less than 40 percent left when you check in on a ferry. The decision the Greek Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy announced was supposedly motivated by safety reasons. This means that anti-EV propaganda prevailed over facts, affecting everyone driving electric vehicles. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/y...ry-234555.html |

Not much information on the Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate and it looks like it's not available in the US so we will wait for the specifications. My point is that most current Hybrids are low tech con jobs. Nothing more than a bad EV with a ICE back up. Heavy, complicated and prone to high maintenance while only producing high mileage numbers when the trip is 50 miles under electric power. How many pure EV's would sold with those numbers?

While I am not a fan of EVs and the political ridiculousness that comes with them... i recently had a chance to drive the new 5 series back and forth between the EV versions and the gas versions... I can assure you that UNLESS I consistently travel distances over 100 miles on highways every day... there is exactly 0 chance that I am choosing the gas version... the EV is insanely torquey, has instant throtthle response and can easily get 290 miles of range... there is no chance this is replacing a V8 Vette for me nor a true M car... bur for a daily driver, it is arguably the ultimate vehicle if you can charge it at home. Once you get back in the regular 5, the gas engine almost becomes pointless and you wonder why it's even there... and this is coming from a former M car owner

ASAP, after hundreds of posts in this thread of how often EVs burn to the ground, and could threaten to burn down your house, you're not convinced yet that EVs are a threat to you and your family????
Well, I guess we're about to see 100 more posts, because you are obviously overlooking this safety hazard. |

If one wants to do data science, they must first learn about cognitive biases and how to correct for them, as most have an alarming lack of statistical intuition. Data is not information, information is not knowledge, knowledge is not understanding, and understanding is not wisdom. |

i am only speaking from a tech and daily drivability standpoint as someone who's owned incredible ICE cars... this doesn't replace a vette z06 for me... nor does it replace a car that necessitates consistent long distance (200+ mile travel)... however it absolutely replaces everything in between and especially mundane junk like Camrys and Corollas and 95% of all other cars on the road...

Corolla starts at 22k Model 3 with government handout in the US starts at 35k, a whole 13k difference. I am not even going to discuss depreciation at this point, or the cost of a replacement battery which seems to be getting more common, YOU may not keep your cars long, but a huge swath of people do I am just saying, 13k is probably a weekend's bar tab for you and many here, but maybe there is a reason why EV take rates have slowed.
