Stellantis is telling the owners of more than 24,000 plug-in hybrid minivans to park them outdoors away from buildings and to stop charging them due to the possibility of battery fires.
The company said Thursday that it's recalling certain 2017 through 2021 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrids, mainly in North America. Some are being recalled for a second time. All can still be driven.
Engineers are still testing the remedy, which involves a software update designed to detect the battery abnormality. If a problem is found, dealers will replace the high-voltage battery at no cost to owners.
Owners will be notified by mail when to take their minivans in for service.

Reuters reports that China has asked the World Trade Organization to set up a special panel to determine if US EV subsidies are an unfair trade barrier.
Even more troubling for Chinese automakers is a rule from the US Treasury Department that prohibits tax subsidies for vehicles manufactured by companies linked to "foreign entities of concern," a category that includes Russia, North Korea, Iran, and China.
China's commerce ministry told Reuters that protectionist EV subsidies from the US "undermine international cooperation on climate change."

I am 100% behind saving the environment for all our kids but the left executes without proper planning. Wind farms are causing serious harm to the Oceans inhabitants. Old car ev batteries and solar panels are environmental disasters with no effective recycling. Both sides need to put our best and brightest together to figure it out.
