Anybody see interior dimensions published on the USA website? Usually they show them in a link named technical specs. They typically show little cartoon profiles of the vehicle. I’m curious what the headroom is when sitting in the drivers seat.

The other thing about that is the way the lights behave in fog. When my lights weren't coded driving in the fog was not great, especially since they ditched discrete fog lights (thanks BMW). With the coded lights I was driving with the auto high beams on, in fog Saturday night and they behaved better than low beams with separate fog lights. For those of us who drive in areas that get fog BMWs failure to make headlights corresponding to the latest US standard, or at least supplying separate fog lights is another "we don't GAF about the US consumer".

So this is what I got from my Sales Advisor regarding the "Acoustic Glazing" - "The rep found what you are talking about in the global release but there is no description of what acoustic glazing really means. Acoustic glass is always double pane. Glazing sounds like tint and would be a weird way to say double paned but he is looking into it."
Be disappointing if there's no acoustic glass available. Unless they tightened up the window tracks. |

I am from Canada, I believe current G01 have acoustic glass with Wind Shield (the glass guy who replace my chipped one confirm that)... and G45 will have Wind Shield + Front side window... as per Canada and US G45 order guide.
Anybody here have spent time compare G45 M50 against Audi Q6 e-tron? The price is similar, one ICE and one EV. |

In BMW information, Acoustic side glass is two panes of glass laminated with a film bonded between them, and it is thicker than normal side glass. It's been suggested that on the G01 BMW uses the same window seals and that the thicker acoustic glass has a tighter seal. BMW also mentions on some models that the acoustic windscreen glass is also thicker than regular laminated windscreen glass. Last edited by avi66; 07-18-2024 at 06:33 AM.. |

The M40i you decided to let go of remains one of the best SUV’s on the planet for under $100K. Just curious how you rationalized the spend (if you don’t mind sharing).

Well, here's what I got back. Got to love her, she's trying. "My rep said he is still finding out, but the stance seems to be that the glass itself is thicker, making it "acoustic" but not double pane like other cars. The X2 has it and the X1 doesn't, meaning the engineers felt it was necessary to quiet down wind noise at the front end of the car. The engineers for the X3 boasted a seamless side mirror vs the previous gen, making it quieter. He is still going to find out what it exactly means, but he test drove the new X3 and did say it was quieter than the previous gen. "

Basically, they have no idea, as it’s more than just “wind noise”. |

I can tell you for certain in the decibels as I had taken measurements before/after purchasing mine. In my Audi Allroad with all-season tires & acoustic glass, my decibel readings were mid-to-low 60 db's when driving between 70-80 MPH.
When my X3 M40i was brand new with the stock RFT's at the same speeds, it was in the low 70's db's. So you could say there was about 5-6 db difference between the two with/without the acoustic glass. Since I put new wheels & DSW06+ tires on this spring, my readings are about 64-66 db's. So tire swap alone reduced it greatly. Now if it had the front acoustic glass, I'd presume it would lower it at least down to 60 decibels.
