I downloaded Waze, but have not used it. How is it supposed to work? I can't be looking at my phone while driving to see if there's a cop around...

Its a gps. Mount the phone on a suction cup on your windshield, etc. The phone does directions like a garmin, eith traffic updates, etc, but it also warns you visually and audibly of a cop 1/2 mile up, debris in the road, etc. You xan hit a button to confirm the warning for other waze users and add new warnings for something that wasn't there easily.

Seems a bit spendy over something like a good radar detector plus an ALP.

I see spending extra on a watch for the jewelry aspect. I dont see how spending 2000 more on a radar and laser setup that might get you out of one or two tickets more in a lifetime max but most likely won't make any difference at all is worth it. There isn't a beauty contest for hidden components. Might as well gold plate your AC fan then too. Thats why i bought VRSF catless downpipes for half the cost of other brands. Its a pipe. Its hidden. It works just as well as a fancy pipe. Save the money for a fancy watch that you can look at, admire, and others can too.

Don't be mad....and besides, I don't think anyone looks at your V1 hanging on your windshield and says....."Wow I need one of those!"

So you think.....or at least believe the V1 false advertising and marketing. I'm happy for you too.

I own both. V1 and passport. V1 works much better. Been happy with its performance for 12 years. And yes its updated, not 12 years old. I've not gotten a radar ticket in 500k of driving above the limit with it and not a laser since I got my jammers. I have gotten under cover tracking me tickets. You enjoy yours. I'm enjoying mine and my Tag Heuer.

Wink

All you have to do is turn X Band OFF.

I've also done a slick hardwire with OEM mute button and HUD notification symbol, but my writeup is only partially complete:

Alright kids, that's enough.

I looked at V1, as many people note that the directional arrows are a big help. However, it seems like there's a decent amount of programming work you need to do through the app to really get the most out of it. -
http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...g-android.html

The Escort Max 360 has the same directional arrows as the V1, and the hardware seems way newer (OLED display, etc.)

Is the V1 really worth it over the Max 360?

V1 with YaV1 to add GPS filtering. You get the range and arrows of the V1, with the GPS filtering of the Escort.

And a laser jammer to turn on in states where they use laser, as once you detect that it's too late.

... though Waze is far more effective than either.

But, all are needed for a comprehensive solution.
