I still love that classic slide Steve put up when he announced the Intel switch:

"It's True"

The "e" on the word "true" was the intel dropped e. The audience laughed, but at the same time were stunned. He is such a showman.

yeah, that was a historic keynote! the guy sure knows how to present stuff. i remember when Gates had his keynote at CES 2005 and MacWorld was a week later, how all online magazine laughed at Gates saying "Bill, this is how to do a keynote" since everything was freezing up on him on stage, nothing worked as planned and if it wasn't for Conan O'Brian moderating it, it wouldn't even be funny.

i can't wait to go to san fran this june for my first WWDC and see Jobs delivering the keynote in person. i'm already pumped up for it!

Lucky bastard, I am jealous as all hell.

I think the second classic in that keynote was when he revealed the Mac he had been using the whole time to demo all the software was Intel... I am sure the sides of the hall caved in slightly for a moment during the collective intake of breath.

I would wait at least until WWDC before buying a new MacBook. I can't imagine that when all is said and done Apple won't be redesigning their top end laptop. By then, a few more of the kinks will be worked out as well.

God knows I learned my lesson with 'Rev A' hardware. I dumped my G3 Powerbook the instant the TiBook G4 came out. I had a lot of problems with it, both hardware and software related. Another lesson I learned is that AppleCare is worth every penny. My original TiBook was the 500mhz, and about a 1-1/2 years later my display went. I called Apple and they offered to replace it for free, but the problem was they no longer made the G4-500. In its place they sent me a G4-667 to replace it, at absolutely no cost.

Anyway, got off topic -- I'd still wait on the Intel MacBook -- although I really like that magnetic power adapter connection.

and that is just what i'm going to do! i plan on getting or ordering one right there at WWDC. i hope that, as is now usual for apple, the performance will go up while the price goes down or stays the same.

Exactly. You gotta take note that they released the 15" MacBook, not the 17... can't wait to see what they have in store for that one.

I wanna see one in the flesh. I love the idea, my power connection is torqued to buggery and now I have to fiddle with it to get the juice to flow into my baby.

My only reservation is how strong the connection is. I tend to use my laptop laying down either on the couch or the bed, and I hope it wouldn't always be popping out every time I shifted. It definitely looks perfect if you always use your laptop on a desk though.

Are you a Mac developer? What do you develop?

well, i'm not a mac developer per se, rather a developer in general. i do mac software but just for myself, nothing for my company. i have computer science and math degree so i do pretty much anything that relates to that topic. lots of web development these days though, like php/mysql, java/jsp, .net, etc, etc...

but hey, i'm gonna bring like 2,000 of my resumes with me to the conference so you never know...

Apple always does this, promises a fantastically mind blowing new experience then forgets to make enough of them to cope with launch demands

The new MacBook is in February and Steve said "Order one now or miss out" so I guess those won't be in general circulation until the middle of the year either.

Curt3s I feel your pain.
