I'm not influenced by who I watched first, unlike many due to psychology, e.g. many thinking Connery is best even though there were many worthy opponents just cuz he was the first.

Back on topic, isn't the quick kick-in-nuts answer the question "who has the better ship"? THE END /thread lol

Picard all the way, a true professional and strategist. W lives at risk, would you really want a captain that goes in half-cocked and all balls no brains? Besides, his crew is superior as well, Data can out-think Pointy-Earred Mixed-breed Dude and Riker can out-fight Kirk. Don't even bother mentioning Worf vs whoever it was, and La Forge definitely better than that fat dude who likes understating things to lower expectations of his CO. What a mess was that original show, kinda like comparing the POW!!....WHAM!!! campy corniness of the original Batman tv show to Nolan's masterpieces. Getouttahere

SPOILERS:

The way Pike saw his future and decided, with little hesitation, go through with the plan was inspiring. Anson Mount and the writers did a terrific job with the character
