The thing I don't get is buying a truck because you MIGHT need it half a dozen times a year.
Need to haul some lumber from home depot or Lowe's? Go rent a truck for the day and use that. Lots of people in this country don't mind looking rich, while actually barely skating by so that anything, like the rising price of gas, makes the lifestyle unsustainable. Hence the comment earlier in the thread about oil reaching $140/barrel in 2008 and everyone selling their trucks because they could no longer afford it. Bro, the Prestige World Wide of the N54 legacy, the 335is is and continues to be highly sought after collector cars of E92 era...buuuut I get it. Four-Skinners are super nice and well built SUV's - last forever, and insane resale capabilities

Once again I think most have already turned off from your douche-bag comments about others' cars. Thinking you're putting someone down for their choice of vehicles just makes you look more like a dork than your last statement. From what I've seen, there are very few people here not driving exactly what they want, and chose. If I wanted to drive anything else I certainly would be doing so.

Exactly! I drive an M550i, a Ford F250 that makes 500 hp and 900 ft-lb of torque, and a Factory Five Cobra replica. They are all completely different, but one doesn't exclude me from the others. I can't understand why people feel like they need to judge others for what they choose to drive.

The only reason I sold it is because the market is so hot and the fuel economy did suck. I look forward to having an electric truck someday though.

I've always owned a truck, until this year. Since I needed to replace my Chevy Avalanche with something newer and lower miles (mine was an '02 model), I decided I didnt' want to go spend $45k minimum to get a newer used truck (truck prices are outrageous); that I know I would get upset by hauling stuff in the back and potentially scratching the paint, etc.
Instead I decided to sell the truck and buy an e93M. Best decision I've made. I don't regret at all with selling the truck. I thought I would miss it a lot. Now, when I need to tow or haul something, I just hookup my utility trailer to my wife's SRX and am good to go. I'm having way more fun with my vert than I ever did in a truck. This whole time, I always felt I needed a truck in my lineup. I don't know if I'll ever go back to buy a truck. If I needed it for a job, then yeah, it would make sense. But with only actually needing a truck a few times per year, I just don't see the need any longer. On another note: in my area, everyone has either a lifted truck or a lifted Wrangler (and so many actually do off-road them). Having the e93 is definitely uncommon; and that's another reason I like it. I don't want a lifted truck or Jeep like everyone else. |

It's so prevalent, many new car dealers here have shades that cover their entire lots to protect new cars from hail damage. Like this: https://www.vpslp.com/all-markets/auto-dealerships |

I'll throw in my 2 cents here. I own a 2013 335i xdrive, a 2001 Ford SVT Lightning and a 1966 Ford Galaxie 7 Litre convertible. Three completely different vehicles that require three completely different driving styles and three completely different use cases and I love them all.
None of these vehicles are completely stock and none of these vehicles are modified with the same thing in mind. The BMW has had a OEM reverse camera added and I have gone through eSys making changes and removed the disclaimer, etc, etc. The Lightning has had the blower and heads ported, the interior upgraded to buckets and console and a reversing camera/head unit installed. The Galaxy has a 428 with 2 4v, aluminum heads, big cam, shift kit in the transmission, 4:11 gears, etc, etc, etc. The BMW is a nice all around car. I usually drive it to work. The Galaxie is good for straight line acceleration and turning heads and not much else. The Lightning is good for hauling things, straight line acceleration and going around corners. It's a great street fighter. Just my 2 cents.

We got a great deal on a Tacoma lease a couple of years ago and found it extremely useful. Not only was it handy for hauling stuff, but it made a great family and road trip car. It was a manual and that part was sometimes tedious. We ended up selling it, but have a new one coming. This one will have automatic, Carplay, and power seats, which the first one didn't have.
After driving sporty cars exclusively up until recently, I will say it is refreshing after owning the Tacoma and a few Jeeps to hit the occasional pothole and not cringe. Driving over curbs is fun too, along with some light off-roading. |

But I still keep my Z and my wife's 128i! Those are way more driver's cars that 335is would ever be. So regrets don't last long |

I needed four doors so regrettably traded the 135is in on a Macan Turbo. The Macan ran circles around the 135is and the PDK made the DCT seem like a piece of crap. I would have kept the 135is if I could afford to and particularly if it was a manual transmission but it wasn’t.

Anyone know if there is any lift kits for the e82, maybe just two inch lift?
Been taking my car to remote scenic trails and would like to make it to the camp ground without scraping and weaving. |

Not sure if this is the trend across the world, but..
In Australia all the top selling cars last year were trucks (we call them utes). There were NO sedans in the top 10. Interesting though, last year we sold twice as many SUV's as any other segment, followed by trucks, then passenger cars: |

I just traded my BMW M550i in on a new GMC Denali truck. The new truck has pretty much all the tech and luxury that my BMW had. I got my truck with the 6.2l V8 that produces 420hp.

I have a 23 Tacoma and love it. It’s a manual and that’s one of the reasons I got it, since they’re going extinct soon. I also love it because the aftermarket for that vehicle is huge and I always have something I can tinker with. My garage is full of different cars to have different experiences when driving. Sometimes I want my big floaty truck, or I need to haul things. Sometimes I want a raucous V8. Sometimes I want a bizarrely obnoxious hot hatch to toss around.

One of my co-workers drove a Frontier for years but wanted something more car-like to give his wife easier access to the passenger seat but still have room for her wheelchair. I just got a look at his new Hyundai Santa Cruz which seems to do exactly what he wanted.
I'm sticking with my '84 Toyota DeLuxe Long-Bed 2WD truck which is still one of the few that can swallow a motorcycle and still be able to close the tailgate. Low lift hight, too. Now that it's about 39-years old, it has finally turned 80,000 miles. No a/c and no FI make it a rather simple truck to grow old with. |

I don't understand why so many folks want to drive these large vehicles as dd and grocery getters. Why not drive something that is more fun and agile and hit a broad on a way back from work. As a work vehicle or towing that's a different story.
