I would put it in my garage or in my house on something, but not on my car. Just my opinion

I have a Dinan badge that's been sitting in my toolbox for like 10 years now. I was turned onto Dinan in the early 90's as a kid. Actually, it was my dad that got me into BMW, M, and Dinan. So I guess it was a goal of mine to actually be able to afford a BMW with Dinan parts. My G30 doesn't have anything Dinan, but the E36 does.

Dinan just doesn't seem to have the same clout that they used to.

I think so. Any BMW that a reputable, professional tuner has gone through enough modification to the point of putting their badge on it, or creating a new model designation, is cool in my book.

They don't, nor the performance. The aftermarket scene just evolved faster than they could. Steve Dinan doesn't even run it anymore, he's moved on. They are one of the few "old-school" BMW tuning shops that are still open, but likely not for long.

Back when they made aftermarket camshafts, bigger throttle bodies, custom bracing, actual parts that improved performance and couldn't get anywhere else - they were pretty cool. Around when F30 3ers came out is when I started to notice it. When you look on the Dinan website and the only options for your model is floormats, pedals, and tunes - not so much cool anymore.

Although when you still see a E39 Dinan M5, you know it means business.

My 2 cents on Dinan.

This is why you see 20 year old Dinan cars running perfectly with no extra maintenance than their unmodified counterparts.
Stealing Steve Dinan has been know for fleecing bmw owners who know nothing about cars since day 1.

You are better off buying a similar product from another company for 1/2 the price for more performance. It has always been this way.

Guy is a joke. Claimed biggybacks are junk and then releases his own 2 years later.

Only suckers bought Dinan.

What exactly is wrong with meth again? If you don't have E85 access it is basically your only option to increase octane other than running race gas 24/7 which is not economical or practical.

No thanks.
Exactly. When you see a Dinan badge you know the car is slow and the owner is easily parted with their money.

Someone name a Dinan part that is worth it's actual cost.

To me, the badge signifies an owner too preoccupied with status and ignorant of better available aftermarket products in each segment.

The only thing I ever bought from Dinan was their axle-back mufflers for my 550i and it was the worst decision ever made. Was as quiet as stock but with an added drone (yet they claim zero drone). Sold it at a huge loss. An expensive lesson learned never to trust or buy anything from Dinan.

I had a similar experience. Bought a Dinan exhaust for my M235i. It was terrible. Should have gotten the M Performance exhaust instead.

You seem to be holding onto a lot of anger Torgus. Calm down.

I have a Dinan Stage 3 e36 M3 with a Supercharger, and it definitely is NOT slow.

Dinan has made many, many Bimmers faster and handle better over the years.

Those are just the facts.

I agree.

There was always better options than Dinan that cost less and performed better.

Dinan, is just like all the old BMW aftermarket companies, were insanely overpriced and they fleec'ed BMW owners for years. See Groupe M, ACS, Dinan, the list goes on. The same thing happened to the Japenese with brands like Mugen, Spoon, etc. If they had just taken normal margins they would still be relevant to this day. They also never innovated much and rested on their laurels. I assume they also used their high profits to buy out the magazines as they drooled all over their parts. The fact is they never actually pushed the platforms forward much.

I'm not angry. I never got suckered by those tuning companies like buying this: https://www.ac-schnitzer.de/bmw/m/m3...m3-f80/?c=5736 <-- I never paid $1050 + shipping for exhaust tips. $525 each! What a steal!!! Just like their $600 strut bars!

Edit: What does your FAST Dinan SC'd E36 put down at the wheels?
